Carol Knapp

May 20, 1950 — January 28, 2022

Carol Ann (Huffman) Knapp, 71 of Casper, Wyoming passed away suddenly on January 28, 2022 at home with her partner, Rich Wilkes, by her side. She had recently undergone extensive back surgery. She did everything she could to live through covid only to die unfairly of a rare and fatal complication.

Carol came into this life May 20th,1950. She was a 1968 graduate of Kelly Walsh High School. She attended Casper College and obtained a degree in Computer Science, which was frankly way before it’s time. She also obtained her Real Estate license and after working for the Coca Cola Bottling Company started working with Pulte Homes. Her most rewarding work was with the Wyoming Department of Unemployment Insurance where she worked for decades making lifelong friends and where she met the love of her life, Rich.

She is survived by her life partner Rich Wilkes, her daughter Stacie Knapp Bouma (Chris), her grandson Holt Bouma, her beloved Kitty, Kirby the Curbside Cat,  her sisters Jo Huffman-Kerr (Ross), Pat McDowell (Bob) and her brother Jim Huffman (Lisa). Other survivors include her nieces Shannon Henderson, Kelly DeVries, Annie Huffman; her nephew Mike McDowell: great nieces Kenzie Stewart King (Adam), Grace Henderson: great nephews Riley and Gavin DeVries, Cody and Danny Stewart.

She was preceded in death by her sweet parents, William and Bessie Huffman. As well as her husband Dell E. Knapp who died in 1996.

She had a passion for math and she never met a crossword puzzle that she didn’t like. She loved gardening and Wyoming’s ½ inch of topsoil challenged her to a breaking point. She never stopped learning or reading and was obsessed with television shows and movies, the smarter and more well crafted, the better. She had a photographic memory for actors and actresses and what they had been in before. She was crazy about cats from the time she recognized what they were. She loved unconditionally, just like her parents before her, which is just a rare and lovely trait. We are all desperately missing her intelligent presence, her wry sense of humor, and her quiet love for all of us.

We may consider a memorial when it’s not negative degrees, when the cold snap in our hearts thaws out some. There will be no viewing and she will be cremated as was her wish.
Donations can be made in her name to the Casper Humane Society. She would be so pleased if you helped to save a life.
