Robert Steinle

October 9, 1925 — December 12, 2016

Memorial Services for Robert William Steinle, 91, will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 16, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Recital of the Rosary will take place Thursday, December 15, 2016 in the side chapel at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Robert passed away peacefully in Casper on Monday, December 12, following a short illness. He was born at home October 9, 1925 in Mills, Wyoming to Fred and Mildred Steinle. He was the oldest of four brothers, Richard, John, and Delmar. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic School through the 8th grade and graduated from Natrona County High School. Upon graduation in 1943, he enlisted in the Navy. He was training to be a Fighter Pilot and was very close to that achievement when word came in that the war was over. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Mills, where he applied for employment with Ohio Oil Company and was awarded a position as a Draftsman. He then married his true love and soul mate Elizabeth Alexander. They were married at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on November 24, 1945 and were seldom apart for their 71 years of marriage. Robert was one of the first members of St. Patrick's Church. He and another parishioner dedicated many weekends to landscaping and planting trees around the new Church. Father Powers was a dear friend of Bob's. He also spent his free time continuing his love for flying by getting his private pilot's license. He was a life member of the Elk's Club. After his retirement from Marathon Oil, and a career that lasted 37-1/2 years, he had time to pursue some of his favorite pastimes which included his grandchildren, seldom missing a school or sporting event. He enjoyed much travel with Elizabeth, finding their way to warmer climates such as Hawaii, Florida, and Arizona for the winter months. Their traveling adventures also included Germany, Italy, China, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mildred Steinle, and recently his brother Delmar. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, daughter Liddy Chaney (John), Steve (Vicki), and Mark (Pam) all of Casper. Grandchildren Susan Apel, Jena Steinle-Smith, Butch Steinle, and Kari Steinle, and great grandchildren, Robert and Kevin Apel. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital will be much appreciated.
