Allen Michael Novotny (Al) 85 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 7, 2025 in Casper WY at Central WY Hospice.
Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima on Monday June 16th 11:00am (1401 CY Avenue Casper, WY). Following the mass a military funeral honor will be held at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery (Evansville) at 1:00pm where he will be laid to rest. Following the ceremony family and friends are invited to Occasions By Cory at 303 South Wolcott St. for a reception, food and reflection.
Allen was born in Cassandra, PA. in 1940 to Albert and Pat Novotny. He grew up in nearby Portage, PA. where he went to school and met his wife, Carol.
Allen joined the US Army on July 18, 1960, and served in Korea with the 1st Bn 29th Artillery and forward observers. Al came back to PA and joined the Army’s Marksman team and was a competition shooter for the Army for the remainder of his service.
After the Army he married Carol Ann on October 24, 1964, and worked in various fields including the railroad and the Pennsylvania Game and Fish. Al and Carole owned and operated a sporting goods store (Dee Jay’s) and guided fishermen and hunters in northwestern PA.
Allen and his family moved to Casper, WY in 1981 where he produced travel videos for Kodak and Rand McNally from Hawaii to Russia and everywhere in between, won several film and editing awards, published books on fishing, taught fly fishing classes, guided hunters and fishermen, produced hundreds of western and wildlife paintings as well as the City of Caspers Centennial Celebration Painting and finally rounded out his career running a successful oilfield hot shot company.
Allen’s passions were his family, art, hunting, fishing, gardening, and his cat (Tito)
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Pat, and grandson Noah John.
Allen is survived by his wife Carole, three sons and their wives Gregg (Rhonda), Jarrod (Kae) and Justin (Cherish). His siblings and their spouses Barry, Jerry Lynn, Patti, and Linda in Pennsylvania. Grandchildren Jessica, Dalton, Christopher, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House Charities Denver in Allen Novotny’s name.
