Funeral services for Audrey Lindeman Shindelhauer will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Oregon Trail State Veteran's Cemetery Chapel. Pastor Marvin Skogen will officiate. She died September 6, 2010 at the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center. She was born May 14, 1916 in Lincoln, Nebraska, daughter of George E. and Edith McKenzie Lindeman. They moved to Alliance, Nebraska when she was 2 years old. In 1928, they moved to Casper where she graduated from Natrona County High School in 1933. She worked for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph for several years. In 1942, she entered Colorado Training School for Nurses at Denver General Hospital graduating in 1945. She was a Cadet Nurse the last six months at Fitzsimmons General Hospital, where she met her future husband. On September 2, 1945, she married Edward W. Shindelhauer. They lived in McCook, Nebraska where he was stationed with the U. S. Army Air Force. After World War II, they moved back to Casper where she worked as office nurse for Drs. Scott and Fowler for over 20 years. They bought property in Bessemer Bend and raised Black Angus cattle. In 1989 they purchased a condo at Maurice Griffith Manor, where she lived until May of 2009 at which time she moved into Shepherd of the Valley Care Center. She was a member of Natrona County Cow Belles, Casper Woman's Club, Casper Boots and Spurs Drill Team, Blue Envelope Health Fund, co-chairman of the Cancer Division, a charter member of the Bessemer Bend Birthday Club, Bridge Club and Coffee Club. She also served on the Election Board for 40 years. She had many interests including sewing, cooking, crewel embroidery, needlepoint and taking classes at the college. She was an excellent hostess and was always admired by everyone she encountered as such a wonderful lady. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father and brother. She is survived by her "dear friends" Jill Rhea, Judy Bradshaw and Pam Hamar, the daughters she never had. Memorials may be made to the Blue Envelope Health Fund.
