Barbara Ann Scott

Barbara Ann Scott, known to many as Barb and lovingly called “Bubby” by a grandchild, died on September 12, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming, of natural causes at the age of 94. She was born on July 10, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois.

Barbara attended Cyrus H. McCormick Elementary School and graduated from Carter H. Harrison Tech High School in January 1950. On August 15, 1950, she enlisted in the United States Air Force. During her service, she attained the rank of Sergeant and worked as a personal equipment technician at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois. During the Korean War, she packed parachutes. She was honorably discharged on August 15, 1952.

On May 22, 1952, she married George L. Scott. They later divorced on June 24, 1989. George preceded her in death on July 6, 2000. Barbara continued to build a full and active life, marked by service, learning, faith, and community involvement. She earned an Associate Degree in Opticianry from Portland Community College.

Barbara was deeply involved in church and community life. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church in Portland, Oregon, where she sang in the Temple Choir, played English hand bells, served as choir librarian, and was a member of the Bell Tones Choral Group. She also enjoyed many years of sailing with her family on the Columbia River through the Rose City Yacht Club and Willamette Sailing Club, and she completed U.S. Power Squadron basic seamanship.

In 1997, Barbara moved to Glenrock, Wyoming, on July 28. There she continued her pattern of service and dedication. She volunteered at the Glenrock Paleon Museum, serving as secretary for five years and as a board member for ten years. She was also elected to the Glenrock Cemetery Board. Barbara was a member of American Legion Post Jesse Martin #9 and faithfully wrote the post newsletter each month.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Anne Scott (Michael Martinez), and her son, Glenn Thomas Scott. She is also survived by granddaughters, Emily (James) of Casper, Wyoming and Natalie (Eric) of Clatskanie, OR; and four great-grandchildren. She will be remembered with love by her family and by all who shared in her life of service, music, fellowship, and community.

In addition to her former husband, George L. Scott, who preceded her in death, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Emil Sr. and Frances Grocholl, and brother, Emil Grocholl, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois.

A graveside service will be held on September 18, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Glenrock Cemetery, 800 S 4th St, Glenrock, Wyoming 82637.
