Betsy Jane Cooan

Betsy J. Cooan, 90, passed away at home surrounded by family on Dec. 7, 2025.

Betsy was born on Nov. 3, 1935, in Cumberland, Wisconsin to Robert and Maggie Hegg. She was the youngest of 13 siblings. At the age of 17, she eloped across the state line to marry the love of her life, Lawrence Cooan, and they celebrated 62 years of anniversaries together. Betsy was a housewife and loved to take care of her family. She was also a CNA and worked at senior living centers. She loved her Green Bay Packers and was a closet WWF All-star wrestling fan. Favorite wrestlers were Vern Gagne and her nephew "Scotty Z".

Betsy is survived by her children, Deborah Short, Lawrence Cooan Jr., Dorene Heit, Keith Cooan; grandchildren, Beth, Justin, Tommy Robert, Brandon, Nathan, Simon, Amanda, and 10 great grandchildren. There will be no services for Betsy. She will be laid to rest at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery with her late husband.
