Blaine Gillingham

February 1, 1947 — April 3, 2010

Come join us for the Celebration of Life of Blaine B. Gillingham, Sr. who passed away on April 3, 2010 in Casper, Wyoming. The celebration will be at 1:00 PM on Sunday April 11, 2010, at the Goose Egg Inn, 10580 Goose Egg Road outside of Casper. The attire for this event is colorful and casual. Blaine was born on February 1, 1947 in Casper, Wyoming to the late Charles Bernard Gillingham and the late Margaret (Betty) Laidlaw. He was a Charter Member of Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. He joined the Wyoming National Guard and the US Army in 1967. He served his nation for 34 years and received many awards throughout his career. Blaine was an avid outdoorsman and cowboy always willing to lend a hand. In his retired years he became a property management specialist at Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, CO. Blaine was a very special and unique man. He was a very positive individual and always tried to do his best. He never would judge anyone. He treated everyone the same. He was very generous and his heart was huge. If anyone needed something Blaine would be there. He was a father and a soldier first and a cowboy second. He was a wonderful dad to his sons. He opened up his heart to his "late in life" stepdaughter. He demonstrated great courage and dignity when he was faced with his own death. He led by example. He will be sorely missed by friends and family. In 1992 he married the love of his life, Patti Hamilton, with whom he enjoyed the last 18 years of his life. Survivors include his wife, Patti Gillingham, two sons, Joe Gillingham of Casper and Bog Gillingham, and two grandsons Jayce and Riley, stepdaughter Robyn Hamilton, three brothers: Bruce Gillingham and CB Gillingham, Robbie Campbell: one sister Becky Harrison and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and niece. Memorial gifts can be sent to Central Wyoming Hospice.
