Obituary

Carol Ann Pace was born on August 15, 1956, in Torrington, Wyoming, and was welcomed into this world by her parents Elden and Betty Baker and her two brothers Donald and Bobby. Carol passed away at Central Wyoming Hospice on April 8, 2026 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Carol graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1974. Carol worked as a title processor at various title companies. Her last job before retiring was with Lenders Title in Little Rock, Arkansas. She loved her job and made many good friends in Arkansas before retiring in 2017 to move back to Wyoming to take care of her older brother Don. She lived in Cody, Wyoming, until Don’s passing and then returned to Casper. Carol enjoyed reading, spending time with friends and family, and traveling whenever the opportunity arose.

Carol was a woman who put others first. She had a gift for making others laugh, a trait she carried with her throughout her life. Carol’s spunky spirit and way of speaking her mind left no one guessing. She could be stubborn and ornery in the best way, full of strength, personality, and heart. She will be remembered for her generosity, her resilience and the joy she brought to those around her.

Her nephew Shane and his wife Shelley remember the first time Shelley met Carol and Carol insisted on buying them groceries. Shelley kept telling her no and eventually Carol said “Back up, heifer.” It shocked both of them, and Carol was mortified that she had said it. Shelley thought it was hilarious, and it became an inside joke between them. From then on they would tease each other and affectionately call each other “heifer.” The best inside joke ever! They also exchanged cow figurines and anything related to cows for the next 10-15 years.

Carol is survived by her nephew and two nieces and their families in Billings, Montana; Shane Baker, wife Shelley and their son Leif Baker; Heather Baker, partner Justin Ehrmantrout, and her children Alayna and Davin; Daylene Allen, partner Greg Willard, and her children Nathan, Trystan, Austin, Breanna, McKenna and Ashlynn. Carol is also survived by her lifelong friend Donna Hall, who was like a sister to her and provided loving care and support to her throughout life, and her dear friend in Arkansas Judy Van Pelt, who was there for her through many ups and downs.

Carol requested that there be no services, and cremation has taken place.

We would like to thank Central Wyoming Hospice and Home Instead for their wonderful care and compassion for Carol. Memorials may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper.
