Charlene Kay (Wright) Aakre passed away peacefully into Jesus’ arms on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Casper Mountain Care Center in Casper, WY surrounded by those who loved her. Charlene was born February 5, 1943 in Worland, WY to William Sr. and Belva (Sikes) Wright. She grew up in Worland with her brother William Jr. (Billy).
Charlene graduated from Worland High School in 1962. She then went to Hall’s Beauty School in Casper. She was baptized in Casper on May 5, 1963. On an evening in downtown Worland with friends she met a handsome sailor on leave, Wally Aakre. Their time together led to a long-distance courtship. Following their marriage, Charlene joined Wally at his Navy duty stations in Norfolk, VA and Jacksonville, FL. Charlene was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, FL on May 4, 1971. Their son James (Jim) was born July 31, 1971 and baptized in the same church on October 31, 1971. Following Wally’s honorable discharge from the Navy, the family moved first to Worland then to Casper in 1978.
Charlene was a devoted mother to Jimmy, driving him to and from Woods School each day, caring for his needs, and being his advocate until his death October 12, 1998. Charlene and Wally were active in ARC, and Special Olympics. Charlene made friends easily through her work as a representative for Avon, Watkins, and Amway and while working as a demo-lady at Sam’s Club. She was an active member of Mount Hope Lutheran Church. She rejoiced knowing that Jesus was her Lord and Savior and that she will live with Him for eternity in Heaven.
Charlene is survived by her beloved husband, Wally. She was predeceased by both her parents, her beloved son Jim, and her brother and sister-in-law, Billy & Loretta Wright.
