Connie Mae Carpenter

Connie Mae Carpenter, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed from this world on November 1, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 22, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, she spent much of her formative years in Superior, Wyoming, where her roots took hold and blossomed.

Life for Connie was filled with love and laughter, particularly during her long-standing marriage to J.D. Carpenter, which spanned three decades from 1959 to 1989. An engaging personality, Connie was defined by her resilience; she often said, "Oh well," reflecting her ability to face life’s challenges with grace and humor. Her ease in handling adversity made her a pillar of strength and support for her family and friends alike.

Connie dedicated much of her career to caring for others, retiring as a Certified Nursing Assistant from Poplar Living Center. Her compassion and nurturing nature shone brightly throughout her life, influencing all those fortunate enough to know her.

Her family was always her greatest joy. She treasured her role as a mother to her daughter, Susan (Ken) Jones, and her sons, David Carpenter, Randall Carpenter, and Jerry Carpenter. Connie's legacy continues through her 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, with whom she loved to spend time. She cherished family gatherings, instilling warmth and a deep sense of belonging that will be fondly remembered.

In addition to her family, Connie enjoyed a variety of hobbies. She loved camping and fishing, finding peace in nature, as well as bowling and playing bingo – activities that brought her joy and laughter, often shared with those she loved. A true gardening enthusiast, she took pride in tending to her roses, watching them bloom as beautifully as her family bonds.

Connie is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brother, Joe Smethurst, and special friends Ron and Virginia Moore, with whom she shared over 50 years of cherished companionship.

Connie now joins her late father, Byron Smethurst; mother, Erma Smethurst; sisters, Afton Searle and Elaine Hood; and brother, Lamar Smethurst, in eternal rest.

A graveside service to honor Connie’s life will be held at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Casper, Wyoming on November 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by a gathering for family and friends at 245 S Fenway St from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Connie's spirit will forever remain a guiding light in our hearts, a testament to a life lived with love, kindness, and an unwavering smile.
