David C. Gossin of Casper, Wyoming, passed away suddenly on September 4, 2025, in Casper.
Dave was born on November 14, 1936, in Ainsworth, Nebraska to Leo and Edna (Morgan) Gossin.
He grew up in Indianola, Nebraska and graduated from Indianola High School in 1954. He was active in all high school sports but excelled at baseball and six-man football. Dave was a member of the football team that was Nebraska six-man champion.
Dave enrolled at the University of Wyoming in 1954 and played on the University’s baseball team. He was part of the UW baseball team that played in the 1956 college World Series and was inducted into the University of Wyoming Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006.
Dave married Mary Jean (Harvard) Gossin in 1958 and daughters Amy and Sally arrived in the mid-1960s. Dave and Mary Jean were married for 22 years. They later divorced. After college graduation, Dave served two years in the army as a military police officer. After settling in Casper, he taught science and coached at Dean Morgan Junior High School for 18 years. Dave enjoyed his students and colleagues.
Dave was married to Charlene Fry from 1980 to 1989.
After teaching Dave owned and operated a lawn care and handyman service, retiring in 2006. Dave married Sonja Medley in 1992 and were married until her death in 2019. They enjoyed dancing, bus trips and spending the winters in Arizona.
Dave is survived by daughters Amy Gossin of Casper and Sally (Smokie) Slocum of Casper, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
During his life Dave was active in his community. He was Casper‘s first big brother and served on their board of directors. He was a member of RSVP and served on the board of directors at the Casper Senior Center. Dave possessed a good sense of humor and enjoyed meeting new people. He will be missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home on September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception at the Casper Senior Center, 1831 E. 4th Street, Casper, that afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
