David Andrew Young, 41, of Gillette, Wyoming, passed away leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will forever live in the hearts of the people who knew him.
David was born in Beeville, Texas, but grew up in Casper, Wyoming, a place he loved deeply and always spoke about with pride. Casper was home to him in every sense of the word.
Dave worked as an electrician and took great pride in the work he did. His uncle Vinny, who taught him everything he knew about electrical work, helped shape the skills and work ethic Dave carried throughout his career. Dave had a natural ability to fix things and figure things out, and he was always willing to help someone who needed it. But his talents went far beyond his work. He was an incredible artist and loved to draw. His artistic ability amazed the people around him, and he could turn a simple pencil and paper into something truly impressive.
In 2015, while working as an electrician on the construction of the new school in Moorcroft, Wyoming, Dave met the woman who would become the love of his life, McKayla. The two quickly formed a bond that would shape the rest of his life. In 2016, Dave moved to Gillette to be with McKayla, and on October 24, 2016, the two were married, beginning a life together built on love, friendship, and family.
When Dave wasn’t working, he loved spending time doing the things that made him happy. He enjoyed playing Call of Duty on his Xbox, golfing whenever he had the chance, and cheering on his teams as a huge Rams fan and a die-hard Cardinals fan.
What people will remember most about Dave was his heart and his personality. He had a kindness about him that made people feel comfortable right away. He loved helping people and was the type of person who would show up whenever someone needed him.
Dave also had a way of making life fun. He was always being a goof, always joking around, and always finding a way to make people laugh. His laugh was one of those laughs you never forget. It wasn’t loud, but it was full of happiness and completely contagious. When Dave laughed, everyone around him found themselves smiling and laughing too.
Above everything else, Dave loved his family.
He is survived by his best friend and wife, McKayla Young. Dave had a special nickname for her that he used often, lovingly calling her his “Bubbies Girl.” It was his way of reminding her that she was his person, his partner, and the one who meant the world to him.
Dave was a proud father to Madison, Marcus, Dax, and Ryker, and stepfather to David Lang, Chandler Nobach, and Carson Nobach. One of the greatest joys of his life was becoming a grandfather to his grandson, Kayce.
He is also survived by his parents, Rick and Tami Young; his grandfather, Earle Meade; six uncles, one aunt, and numerous cousins who will all miss him deeply.
Dave had a gift for making people feel welcome, cared for, and entertained all at the same time. He leaves behind countless memories filled with laughter, kindness, and love. Those who knew him will forever remember his goofy spirit, his artistic talent, and the happiness he brought into every room.
Though he is gone far too soon, the love he gave and the joy he shared will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
Funeral will be a private family service at Highland Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow this summer.
