Dox W. Carr, III, 71, died on August 24 at the Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper as a result of complications of Diabetes. He was born on October 7, 1938 in Casper to Dox W. Carr. Jr. and Lorene (Schopf) Carr. Dox was educated in Casper, graduating from NCHS in 1956. He then attended the University of Wyoming where he graduated with a B.S. in Pharmacy in 1960. When he returned to Casper he went to work for Kimball Drug. In 1963 he was drafted into the Army. He served two years on active duty at Ft. Hood, Texas. After his Army service he returned to Casper to work at Kimball Drug. When he returned to Casper he met his future wife, Sue Olds. Dox and Sue were married on November 25, 1966 in Casper. Their family expanded to include three children. Kimball's opened the Apothecary Shop and Dox worked there as a Pharmacist. He owned and worked at the Apothecary Shop until he sold the store and went to work for Safeway in 1990. He continued to work as a Pharmacist for Safeway until his retirement in 2002. When he was a teenager, Dox began to play the oboe with the Casper Symphony Orchestra and he performed with that group for over 40 years. He enjoyed his association with the Symphony and was on the Symphony Board for several years. He also played for many years in the City Band and he performed with many different small ensembles over the years. Dox is survived by his wife, Sue; his children, Andy of Westminster, CO, Jamie (Lori) of Aurora, CO and Jennifer of Rapid City, SD; his sister, Cindy Sievers of Casper; a brother-in-law; many cousins; two nieces; two nephews; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A family Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 17 at Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church. A reception for friends and family will be held on Saturday, September 18 at 2:00 at the Ramada Plaza Riverside. Everyone is invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wyoming Children's Society, 314 East 21st St., Cheyenne, WY 82001, Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, 4600 So. Poplar, Casper 82601, Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 So. Wilson, Casper 82601, or a charity of choice.
