Ed Fields, 65, of Mills, passed away on June 28th at home surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer.
Ed was born in Jamestown, North Dakota to Donald Eugene Fields and Ethel Marie Fields Gillig. He spent his early childhood on a farm. Ed’s dad died when he was 9 and the family eventually moved to Wing, North Dakota. He left North Dakota for Wyoming at age 18 as part of the early 1980’s oilfield boom. Later, he obtained his GED.
Ed spent the majority of his life moving between Wyoming and North Dakota. He wanted to be surrounded by his siblings and his nieces and nephews.
Ed worked long hours in the oil field, which took him to Alaska and all over Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and North Dakota. He started his career with Porta-Test Systems. He enjoyed being outdoors; hunting, fishing, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling and driving his Razor everywhere. He had a great love for Chevrolet trucks, and for many years he worked on restoring his red 1970’s pickup. He lived most of his life as a bachelor, he had a giving heart and was generous to his family. He loved his great nieces, nephews and Drexol. When he was surrounded by them his face lit up with a smile.
He is survived by his 3 sisters and 1 brother: Mary (Larry) Christensen of Harrisville, UT, Donna Brose Gillette,WY, Colleen (Doug) Alyea Beulah, ND, and Kurt (Tammy) Gillig, Zap, ND. and numerous nieces and nephews. Ed joins his mother ( Ethel Fields/Gillig) father (Donald Fields), and two beloved brothers (Gene Fields and Bruce Fields)
No services will be held, as this was Ed’s wish, but the memory of him will be cherished by his family and friends.
