Edette Lacy

January 5, 1950 — March 27, 2024

Casper

Edette Lacy, 74, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away into the presence of Jesus on Wednesday, March 27th after a lengthy battle with Alhzeimers.

Edette was born in Fresno, California, to Esmond D (Ed) and Ellen Louise (Phelan) McCullah on January 5th, 1950.

She and her sister Suzy enjoyed walks to the beach when they lived in San Francisco. Her family moved to the Denver area at the age of 13. She graduated from Hinkley High School in 1968. At 18 she went to work for Mitchell Campers and met the love of her life, John Lacy. She went to a revival meeting on one of their dates and trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, a relationship that would grow in depth and love the rest of her life.

John and Edette married on June 7, 1969, at Adams City Baptist Church in Commerce City, Colorado. They had 5 beautiful children: John Jr. ,Jason, Joe, Jess and Julie. In 1979 they moved to Casper, Wyoming, where they raised their family and enjoyed the rest of their almost 55 years of marriage.

Edette was an artist. She began a lifetime of doll making (in many styles), quilting, sewing, cake making/decorating, keeping her 9 granddaughters in dresses and all 14 grandkids in birthday costumes, and handmade gifts. For many years she participated in multiple craft fairs with her best friend, Diana Feezer, and many others.   Edette never sat still; because of her love for Jesus and for others, she blessed family, friends, church family, and even strangers by creatively working with her hands. For about twenty years one of her favorite ministries was her 2-3 year old Sunday class at Calvary Baptist Church. Through this ministry she began making baby quilts for the families in the church. Of course, she made many quilts and so many other gifts for her grandkids, but there was always time to give to a multitude of other people. Each project was the most important thing she was doing, requiring perfection even when she was doing 5 projects at a time!   She created cakes for so many occasions! With all her busy activities and accomplishments her family was number one with her husband John at the top of her list!

Edette Lacy is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ellen, her nephew Dean Mondy and her infant grandson Evan Michael Stanley.

Edette is survived by her husband John; her children: John Jr., Jason (Bernadette), Joseph (Susie), Jess (Erron) and Julie (Shawn);  her grandchildren: Savannah, Kenneth, Matthew, Emma, Megan, Charlie, Katherine, Luke, Katie Joy, Emily, Daniel, Abigail, Lily, and Nanette; her sister Suzy and her uncle Jack Phelan; a special sister-in-law Doris Collins; many nieces, nephews, and multiple extended families.

Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church on Saturday, March 30th at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Matney officiating. Bustards Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
