IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elmer Robert
Marquez
August 13, 1939 – February 6, 2026
Elmer Robert Marquez, 86, was born on August 13, 1939, in Del Norte, Colorado, and passed away on February 6, 2026, at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyoming.
Elmer was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. A faithful Catholic man with a generous heart, he was known for his charm, quick wit, and outgoing personality. He had a big heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a natural ability to make others feel valued and welcome. Those who knew him would say he was always giving and willing to help, asking nothing in return.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and spent many years serving in the National Guard, a role he held with great pride. His faith was central to his life. Elmer was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Collins, where he served a term as Principal of Catechism, helping guide and mentor young people in their faith.
A self-taught and very successful businessman, Elmer owned several businesses throughout his life. His strong work ethic and determination shaped not only his career but the example he set for his family.
More than any professional accomplishment, Elmer’s greatest pride was his family. He loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and performances, cheering them on enthusiastically. He treasured time spent traveling, watching baseball, antique shopping, and spending time in the mountains he loved so much. He was also known for having the cleanest car around and perfectly kept lawns — small reflections of the pride he took in everything he did.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lorella Marquez; his sons, Robert Marquez and Rodney Marquez; his daughter, Bev Marquez; his daughters-in-law, Lisa Marquez and Kirby Marquez; his grandchildren, Valerie, Amanda, Ashlee, Kendell, Alec, Austin, and Conley; and six great-grandchildren, with two more expected in August. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Garcia and Alivine Martinez; his brother, Danny Marquez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Mary Marquez; his brother, Phil Marquez Jr.; his brother, Raymond Marquez; and his sister, Dorothy Lujan.
Elmer’s life will be celebrated in the spring at one of his favorite scenic mountain places, a setting that reflects his love for Colorado’s natural beauty.
Elmer will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and profound love for his family.
