Eugenia Fairfax Trojan was born in Middleburg, Virginia in 1929 and passed away on February 15, 2026 at Wyoming Medical Center, Casper, Wyoming.
She was the sixth of seven children of Nellie Ann (Gray) and Richard Earl Alexander.
Even though she was born at the beginning of the Great Depression, Genie, (or Tootsie as she was nicknamed as a child), grew up anything but depressed: she was always full of light, fun and generosity. She was often called "the prettiest girl in town" with her pale blonde hair and constant smiles.
Genie went on to college at Washington, D.C.'s Strayer College where she studied secretarial and stenographic training which she practiced all through her life. Soon after college and at the end of World War II, she found her first career as an administrative aide at the Pentagon. In the 1960s, she joined the staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, specifically working as the right-hand aide for (the then) Major General Bruce Holloway, a highly decorated figure in the U.S. Air Force. As General Holloway rose in the ranks he assumed command of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe and shortly thereafter was promoted to full rank of General as he commanded the relocation of USAF assets, and in 1966 served as the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force. He often said he "could not have done half as much" without Genie and her brilliant memory for names, numbers and details.
Along the way, Genie married Bill Whitt and gave birth to a son Glenn. She later divorced Bill and found a dear love in George V. Trojan.
Genie and George became doting, loving parents of Amy Alexander Trojan in 1968. They had many adventures and travels due to George’s career including living in Saudi Arabia, Greece and New Jersey. George predeceased Genie in 2020. Her son Glenn predeceased her in 2023.
In the mid 1970s, when Genie and George relocated to Casper, Wyoming, she began her second career, at Hilltop Bank where she was an administrative assistant for many years. She tried retirement but "failed retirement," and soon was invited to join the Wyoming Industrial Development Company/Frontier where she served as office manager until she finally retired at age 92. Even after retirement, Genie couldn't sit still. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She traveled near and far, often to visit her daughter Amy in Albuquerque and, in 2020, drove herself solo across the country to Florida and back to visit friends and family. One of her many nephews remembers Genie's "fun loving smiles and inner strength" while a niece remembers Genie enjoying "Martooni time." She also celebrated her 80th birthday with a Mediterranean cruise to Venice, Italy with another niece, where she was "belle of the ball (or ship)."
Genie was friends with many, loved by many and will be indescribably missed by friends, neighbors, especially the Whitaker family, and family near and far. She was the last of her siblings and indeed, one of a kind.
Genie is survived by her daughter Amy, of Albuquerque, many nieces and nephews.
Rather than flowers, any remembrances should be sent to Meals on Wheels, Casper, Wyoming.
A Memorial Service for Genie will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Bustard's Funeral Home, 600 CY Ave Casper WY 82601.
