The Life and Legacy of

Fernando “Nando” Jimenez was born January 28, 1934, in Rock Springs, Texas, to Maria and Luis Jimenez. One of thirteen siblings, Nando was raised there and attended school in his hometown.

At seventeen, Nando began taking the only jobs available to him at the time. In the early 1950s, he worked as a sheep shearer with a local crew of about twenty. They traveled through Wyoming and South Dakota for work that helped families get through hard winters.

Nando found happiness in his youth and married his hometown sweetheart, Geneva Torres, in 1955. Together, they started their young family.

Florencio Jimenez was born September 1, 1956. He was followed by twin sons, Fernando Jr. and Jesus Jimenez, born May 22, 1958. In November 1960, Jamie Jimenez was born, completing this chapter of a growing family.

Nando moved his young family to Yakima, Washington, where they lived for many years. He found work locally until the seasonal call took him back to the cold winters of Wyoming and the Dakotas. He worked with a crew of about thirty men, mostly family members, earning a living that supported their families.

After his divorce from Geneva, Nando moved to Wyoming in 1971. In Casper, he built a blended family and later married Pauline Rivera.

They shared a deep love, enjoying travel, concerts, dancing, and road trips throughout Wyoming, Texas, and the Dakotas. Their devotion to each other was clear and often spoken of. Nando would say Pauline was the love of his life. They were never apart by choice, but rather enjoyed each other’s company endlessly.

In March 2000, the family moved to Aurora, Colorado. When their granddaughter Leeann Greenberg was born to Harry and Tina, they moved to be closer to the new baby, starting another chapter.

Nando later met his close friend and boss, Steve Ferdette. The two remained close until the end. With Steve, Nando had a steady job in land surveying. Together, they traveled to many places, including New Mexico, California, Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado, and Wyoming. He would proudly point out the places where he and Steve had worked together and built.

Nando wanted everyone to know how thankful he was every day for their love and friendship. He was grateful to have married into a family that loved him so much. As Pauline would always say, “They were rich in family.”

Family

Nando was one of thirteen siblings. His siblings who preceded him in death include Fernando, an infant son; Jose, Jesus, Juan, Luis, Josafa Ruiz, Sabas De Leon, Kina Martinez, Teresita Jimenez, and Julia Reyes.

His surviving siblings include Maria Ramirez and Manuel,

And his son Jesus (Jesse) Jimenez

His parents, Maria and Luis Jimenez, preceded him in death.

Geneva Torres Jimenez and Pauline Rivera Jimenez also preceded him in death.

From the blended family, those who preceded him in death include Louis Montoya, Jake Montoya, Richard Montoya, and Andy Montoya.

Those still living are Priscilla Romero, Tina Greenberg, Cecilia Gottfried, Roy Mestes, and Paul Rivera.

Nando was rich in family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and friend. His love of God, music, good company, and his gratitude for each day were evident to all who knew him.

He often expressed deep thanks for the love he received, especially from the family he married into. Nando leaves behind a legacy of hard work, friendship, and enduring love.

His story lives on through all who loved him and will carry his memory in their hearts forever. Thank you for the flowers.
