Fred Christman

July 9, 1911 — September 25, 2010

At his request, no services will be conducted for Fred Christman, 99, who died September 25, 2010 at Lusk, Wyoming. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bustard's Funeral Home. Mr. Christman was born July 9, 1911 in Ransom, County, North Dakota, one of 14 children of Carl and Elizabeth (Markgrof) Christman. Their children were Raymond, Irene, Edward, Clara, Albert, Dale, Beulah, Freddie, Earl, Esther and Vern. Fred came to Wyoming in 1927 and worked at the telephone company at "Point of Rocks", Wyoming. They were stringing four new leads from "Point of Rocks" to Rawlins. He then went by Model T car to Topeka, Kansas, returning to Wyoming where he worked at the Bar-C Ranch. In the spring of 1929, he went to work at the Bill Grieve Ranch haying and building dams. He worked for Wedick Trucking Company in 1933, building Seminoe Dam, hauling material for two winters. He also moved equipment for the Alcova Dam and Tunnels Project. From there he went to Alaska and worked in the coal mines. In 1940 he was married to Clover Mudge. They had a son and a daughter. They moved to California where he worked in a defense factory, testing air research parts. He returned to Wyoming and worked for CNW Railroad. He worked for Investors Oil at Poison Spider. He then moved back to the family farm, out of Sheldon, North Dakota. After farming for three years, the family moved back to Casper where he worked as a lead mechanic for Mobil Oil. He later worked at Natrona International Airport as mechanic. He retired in 1973. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Fred C. and Janice Christman from Manville, WY, three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife on June 3, 1978, his daughter, Sandra on July 19, 1975, grandson on April 17, 2005 and thirteen brothers and sisters. We would like to thank Kathy and Diane and all his friends at the "Cozy Corner" for the love and care he received.
