George E. Russell

March 3, 1937 — January 26, 2025

George Eugene Russell, age 87, of Casper, Wyoming, unexpectedly passed away on January 26, 2025, with his loving family by his side.

George was born on March 3, 1937, in Livingston, Montana to George Wesley Russell and Dorothy Owens. He grew up in Montana and attended high school in Bozeman, where he met the love of his life - Mary Eileen Tinker - during their sophomore year. After graduation, George and Mary were married on October 5, 1957, in Bozeman, and were married for 63 years before Mary’s passing in 2021. While living in Montana, they had three children, Chuck, Debbie, and Vickie. Casper has been home to the Russell family since 1966.

George was a cook in the Army Reserves. After leaving service, he supported his family as a traveling salesman working for Kraft Foods (where he got his CB Handle – the Cheeser), Noble Foods, and Royal Supply, to name a few, ending his career with Pro-Kote Engineering & Supply. He also managed Beef -n- Tacos “Beefies” in the late 1970’s/early 1980’s. George’s strong work ethic was second to none.

While we mourn the loss of our beloved family member, we celebrate the life of a great man! Great in his character and approach to life. George was a happy-go-lucky man who treated everyone with kindness. He was a glass half full person, spewing optimism, never complained, saw the good in everyone, would give you the shirt off his back, and took any challenge head on.

George was a Classic Car/Street Rod lover, a Denver Broncos fan, a skilled mechanic, a Westside Boy, and a Millbilly. He loved traveling with Mary in their classic cars, attending numerous shows and rod runs across the country, making life-long friends along the way, even as far away as Australia and Germany. George never met a stranger. He also enjoyed the company of his close buddies at coffee, breakfast, and happy hour.

George was an amazing husband, father and grandpa. He most recently enjoyed being a great grandfather to Bella, Lily, Benjy, and Boston. He was greatly looking forward to welcoming a fifth great grandchild in May. His legacy will live on in the hearts of these children and the life made possible through him.

George is survived by his daughters Debbie May and Vickie (Jim) Smith; grandchildren Allen (Chrissy) Sosa, Jamie (Kyle) Perry, Alex (Sydney) Smith, Sabrina (Cameron) Budack, Brandt (Holly) May, and Taylor May; great grandchildren Isabella Smith, Boston Perry, Lily Sosa, Benjamin Sosa, and Dusty (Shelby) Cooler; great-great granddaughter Iris Cooler; his brother Thomas Wesley Russell; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Louie) Stengel and Mabel Tinker; brothers-in-law, Chuck Tinker and Bob (Peg) Tinker; numerous nieces and nephews; the “littles” Macey and Mason who still wonder when he’s coming home; and many, many special friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his son, Chuck Russell; his parents; and brothers Stan Russell and Jerry Russell.

A Celebration of Life/RodRun/Tribute Cruise is being planned for warmer weather. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, WY 82601; Natrona County Meals on Wheels, 1760 East 12th Street, #4005, Casper, WY 82061; or the Mills Fire Department, 300 Lakeview Drive, Mills, WY 82604.

As a family, we can rest easily knowing George has been reunited with his lifetime love - Mary - cruising the skies of Heaven.
