Gloria Abrego

December 5, 1947 – July 11, 2026

With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Gloria Abrego, who entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on December 5, 1947, in Mercedes, Texas, Gloria moved with her family to Northwest Indiana in the late 1950s, where she graduated from Gary Edison High School with the Class of 1966. Northwest Indiana became the place where she built her life, raised her family, and left a lasting impact on countless people before later making Casper, Wyoming, her home.

Gloria was the beloved daughter of Manuel and Adeline Abrego. She lived her life boldly for Christ, sharing His love through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Those who knew Gloria often described her as a breath of fresh air—a woman whose smile, laughter, and encouragement could brighten any room.

Her gift for uplifting others began early. As captain of her high school cheerleading squad, she inspired those around her with enthusiasm and compassion—qualities that remained with her throughout her life. While still in high school, Gloria became a licensed cosmetologist, beginning a remarkable career that spanned more than five decades.

Dedicated to perfecting her craft, she studied with some of the most respected names in the beauty industry, including Vidal Sassoon, earned the distinction of Master Cosmetologist, owned several successful salons throughout Northwest Indiana, educated future stylists, and proudly represented Redken on stage. Yet despite her many professional accomplishments, what Gloria treasured most were the relationships she built with her clients, students, and friends. She never simply styled hair—she made people feel seen, valued, and loved.

Above all else, Gloria’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. She loved fiercely and without condition. From childhood, she was known for protecting those she loved, even taking the blame to shield her siblings. As a mother, she devoted her life to her children, always placing their needs above her own. Whether fighting for their health, encouraging their dreams, or simply making sure they felt loved every single day, Gloria’s life was defined by sacrifice, strength, and unconditional love. Her children always knew they had someone who believed in them completely.

She is also survived by her loving brother, Jayson Abrego, and his son, Jayson; her brother-in-law, Gabe Cabrera; her nephew, Gabe Cabrera and his wife, Courtney, and their two sons; her niece, Deanna Alvarez and her three children; her grand-niece, Abby Evilsizor-Cabrera; and a large circle of extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Gloria was joyfully reunited in Heaven with her parents, Manuel and Adeline Abrego; her sister, Sulema Cabrera; her nephews, Brandon Cabrera and Jorge Alvarez; and her beloved daughter-in-law, Michelle Eaton.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing Gloria is exactly where she longed to be—in the loving presence of Jesus Christ. Her faith never wavered, and her legacy of love, generosity, perseverance, and compassion will continue to live on through every life she touched.
