Henry Matteau

November 25, 1939 — September 4, 2020

We are very sad to announce the unexpected passing of our Dad, Henry Joseph Matteau, 80, on September 4, 2020, in Casper, Wyoming. Although we will miss him tremendously, we know he is now rejoicing in eternity with his Lord and Savior.  Lil’ Hank, as he was once known, was born to Lauretta Irene Matteau on November 25, 1939, in Providence, RI. Henry was proud to have served in the US Army/US Army Reserve in Fort Dix, TX.

Henry is survived by his companion of 31 years, Mary Ann Vaz and his pride and joy, his 3 children Walter Matteau, Wendy (Brad) Haverlock, & Tammy (Richard) Hart. Additionally, his grandchildren, Zachary (Silvia) Matteau, Jessica Brelsford, Miranda Clesos, Alexandria Kakela, Joel Matteau and John Vaz will greatly miss their devoted Pepe’. He was also blessed to have enjoyed time with his great grandchildren, Chase Joseph, Mason Joseph, Lucas Cabral, and Evelyn Matteau. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, His 2 sisters, Lorraine Hansen of Oklahoma, Pauline Lynch of Rhode Island and his 2 brothers, Paul and Robert Ethier of Rhode Island.

Henry spent his career as a machinist and worked for Sheldahl for 17 years until they closed their doors. He then went to work for General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division for 27 years until he retired. He was very proud of his time with Electric Boat building submarines for the U.S. Navy.

Retirement wasn’t really for Henry and after moving to Wyoming in 2016 the “Old Man” started working at his son’s flooring company. He was also an avid New England Patriots and New York Yankees fan but he enjoyed watching all types of sports, including golf and bowling! The years Henry spent in Wyoming were the happiest of his life. He loved being here with his children and made many friends in the community.

A service for Henry will be held on Sunday September 13, 2020, at 3:00 PM for family and close friends. Henry loved the social events with friends and family so please help us honor him with a reception to celebrate his life beginning at 4:00 PM. Both will be held at the home of his daughter where he loved his Sunday morning breakfast every week and all are welcome at the reception. The address is 2545 Weston St in Casper.

The family would like to express our immense gratitude to the nurses at Wyoming Medical Center, specifically the 5th floor (PCU) and the ICU for the care and kindness they gave to our dad.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home , 600 CY Avenue, Casper, WY. 82601.
