James Thomas Anderson, 87, of Casper, passed away on June 12, 2025, in Casper, Wyoming.
James was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Mary Ida and Ora Eugene Anderson on May 19, 1938. He attended high school at Paoli High School and graduated in 1956. He began his lifelong career in the oilfields of Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming shortly after graduation. He worked for Geolograph and later Security Industries which transferred him to Rock Springs in 1964. He formed his own oil field drill bit service company, Economy Bit Service, in Casper in 1975 which he owned until his retirement in 2023. Throughout his 60-year career, he constantly tried to educate himself on new technology to remain competitive in the industry. One of the highlights of his career was going to Mexico and teaching them how to more efficiently drill for oil. This industry not only provided for his family, he made lifelong friendships which he treasured.
James loved baseball. It was his favorite love in life beyond his family. This love began as a little boy when he played baseball and even won a contest to name the local baseball team, the Pauls Valley Raiders, when he was 9 years old. His favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals which he has extensively followed his entire life. He purchased season tickets for the Colorado Rockies before they even had a team, he was just happy that they would be a National League team so that he could see the Cardinals play in person.
He married Judy Nowlin on August 30, 1960, in Lawton, Oklahoma. After 10 years of marriage, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kari Beth. They would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this August.
James is survived by his wife, Judy Anderson of Casper, his daughter, Kari Beth Scholz and her husband Richard of Mankato, Minnesota, his grandson, Travis Sisco and his wife Laura of Denver, Colorado, grandson Logan Hand of Mankato, Minnesota, and a special cousin Ray Craig of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by parents, Mary and Ora.
