Joshua Harland Olson

October 22, 1980 — September 27, 2023

Casper

Joshua Harland Olson, or when he was younger often referred to as Ollie, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on September 27, 2023, of a cardiac event.  Joshua was the firstborn to Arlo James Olson and Vicky RaNae Bowers on October 22, 1980 in Garrison, ND.  The family began to grow, with his sister Kristina, “Sissy”, as Joshua nicknamed her, in 1981, followed by the youngest brother Jody “JJ” in 1985.

The family moved with the oilfield to Casper, WY in 1988, where Josh would find his love for all things Wyoming.  Josh attended Natrona County High School, where he excelled in Orchestra as first chair violin, ran the shop classes, & schooled his science teachers, in fact fixing the dry ice machine for experiment during class.  After high school he began his career in mechanics and proceeded to obtain several certifications in diesel and automotive mechanics while working at Grizzly Maintenance, Inland Trucking, & Mad Towing.   His certification trainings were mainly just to get the paper and challenge the teachers as he had become a professional diesel technician for several companies as well as his own business, Right N’ Tight Repair.

Josh & Sharon welcomed their first-born son, Zachary in 1999, and daughter Catilynn in 2001.   As life has its’ way, Josh & Sharon were divorced in 2002, but continued to love and support their children.   Josh found his next love in life with Leah Miller and young son Tristan, giving him three amazing children. In Tristan’s words; “I rambled but he always listened to my words… I’m sure you knew that I loved you… Never thought you’d go, 10 feet tall & bulletproof.”

Josh was “one of the good guys” who never thought twice about how he could help a friend, or stranger, for that matter.   When he wasn’t working on many of his personal automotive projects and friends, families and perfect strangers’ vehicles, Josh loved anything outdoors including fishing, hunting and camping.   His love of cooking brought his many family and friends together which made him happiest next to his granddaughter.  Throughout his life, Josh cherished the moments he shared with his family and lifelong friends, collecting memories that would last a lifetime. He was a loving father to three children and celebrated the joy of becoming a grandfather. His devotion to family knew no bounds.

Joshua was a father, friend, brother, son, partner, and a helping hand to strangers in need. He had a unique sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him and was always there when someone required assistance.  Josh will be remembered for his unwavering love, kindness, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Josh is survived by many family members including his dog Lucifer; parents Arlo Olson & Vicky Bowers; Siblings Kristina (Jacob) and their two sons Carter and Aiden “Harley”, Jody Olson, (Sarah) and their two kids Karlee and Raylan; his children, Zachary & Catilynn, their mother Sharon, granddaughter Scarlett and Tristan Miller, mother, Leah Miller; as well as countless extended family and friends.

Services to honor Joshua’s life will be in Casper, WY on Friday, October 6 at St. Patrick’s; 400 Country Club Road at 3:00 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life at his brother’s home at 12298 Poison Spider Road.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a memorial fund at UniWyo Federal Credit Union, where an account has been set up for his grandchildren, Scarlett and those to come.
