Judith "Judy" D. Slinker

Judith Delphia Slinker, 81, passed away on September 9, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming, surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Judy was born on August 5, 1945, in Scobey, Montana, to Cliff and Violet Wolfe. She grew up alongside her siblings Jerry, Evan, Linda, Shirley, Jim, and LaDell.

Around 1948, the family moved to the Wolf Point area, where Judy grew up on the family farm and ranch. She attended one-room country schools near Wolf Point and later near Miles City. When she reached high school age, Judy moved into Miles City and shared an apartment with her older brothers, Jerry and Evan. The rest of the family moved to Miles City in 1960.

As a young girl, Judy loved being outdoors and could often be found riding horseback alongside her father. She preferred being outside to spending time in the kitchen, making it all the more remarkable that she later became such an extraordinary cook and baker.

Judy lived a life defined by hard work, determination, creativity, and an eagerness to take on new challenges. She worked as a bookkeeper and became the owner of a tractor and implement company in Worland, Wyoming. As an adult, she returned to school and earned a degree in accounting from Central Wyoming College, graduating as valedictorian. She later earned her real estate license and sold real estate for several years.

Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open Beaver Creek Stitchery in Riverton, Wyoming, which she operated for seven years. She sold dusters and personally sewed, assembled, and sold dusters and pack saddles through the business. Never afraid to begin a new adventure, Judy later became an over-the-road semi-truck driver. She purchased her own truck and trailer and operated them under her own business license for many years. She loved traveling from coast to coast, seeing the country, and meeting people along the way. It was while she was on the road that she met her beloved husband, Scott. They went on to share 27 wonderful years together.

For nearly 20 years, Judy owned and operated Country Cottage Quilt Shop, building it into a highly successful business and one of the finest quilt shops in Wyoming. Customers traveled from across the country to shop there, visit with Judy, and admire the quilts she created. A gifted seamstress and quilter, she made many beautiful, award-winning quilts and shared her knowledge and love of quilting with others. She could sew, knit, crochet, and seemingly create anything she put her mind to. In 2007, Judy was recognized as the number one Karavita skincare cream salesperson in the United States—another example of her determination and ability to succeed.

Judy’s talents extended into the kitchen, where her cooking and baking were legendary. Her family believed no one made better cinnamon rolls or fry bread, and she especially loved making lefse. The food she prepared was one of the many ways she shared her love with those around her.

Of all her accomplishments, nothing meant more to Judy than her family. She loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren, and her world truly revolved around them. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her life and brought her immeasurable happiness.

Judy was the mother of four children: Clifford R. Wilcox; Roberta J. Cassity and her husband, Stan; Barbara V. Taylor; and Herbert J. Wilcox and his wife, Robin.

Her grandchildren include Amber Hall and her husband, Matt; Kyle Wilcox and his wife, Britney; Tyler Cassity and his wife, Kortni; Britnea Hawker and her husband, Kirk; Troy Cassity; Ashton Killinger and her husband, Trevor; Josh Humphries; Abigail Morton and her husband, Tyler; Kenneth Wilcox and his wife, Kaity; and Peter Wilcox and his wife, Sabrina. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Cliff and Violet Wolfe; her brother, Jerry; her daughter, Barbara Taylor, who passed away in May 2018; her son, Clifford Wilcox, who passed away in August 2020; and her grandson, Peter Wilcox, who passed away on June 9, 2026.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Scott; her children, Roberta and Herbert; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Evan, Linda, Shirley, Jim, and LaDell; and many other family members and dear friends who will deeply miss her.

Judy proved throughout her life that there was little she could not accomplish once she put her mind to it. She taught her family that they could be whoever they wanted to be and pursue whatever they wanted to do. She often encouraged them, “Don’t be afraid to try. What’s the worst that could happen?” Her courage and determination became one of her greatest gifts to her family—a lesson passed from her children to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her example will continue to inspire them to live life to the fullest, follow their own paths, and find happiness in being themselves.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Chandelle Event Center, 3445 Chandelle Blvd in Riverton, Wyoming. Memorial donations may be made in Judy’s name to a local 4-H or FFA club.
