Julie Ann Sharkey

October 17, 1957 — September 21, 2025

Casper, WY

Julie Ann Sharkey, 67, of Casper, WY, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. She was born on October 17, 1957, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Joseph and Joan Blasen. Julie lived a full life centered around faith, family, and friendship.

In 1983, Julie met the love of her life, George Sharkey. With butterflies in her stomach, she knew he was the one she was meant to spend the rest of her life with. On July 21st, 1984, they said “I do,” and started their life’s journey on building their family in Casper, WY.

Her life was centered around her two children and three grandchildren. She started many traditions that so many have become a part of. Everyone knew Friday night was family pizza night. She believed that after a long, hard week, it was time to relax, enjoy one of her "food groups”, and catch up with each other. Everyone was always welcome to join. She loved hosting the holidays. Inviting anyone who did not have plans to join in on her turkey and dressing; that never left anyone disappointed. Most people looked forward to her amazing dressing.

Her granddaughters loved the weeks in December, building up to Christmas, baking cookies, and often sneaking bites of the cookie dough; but let’s be fair, all of us did that. Her cookies were never a let-down. Christmas was her favorite time of year as she spared nothing from the decorations, food, and the strong tradition of coming together with everyone.

Julie dedicated almost 40 years of her career to Modern Electric, where she was valued for her commitment and hard work. In her retirement, she was able to enjoy her love of baking and watching her granddaughters grow.

Julie is survived by her loving husband, George Sharkey; her daughter, Jessica Sharkey; her son, Shawn Sharkey; and her daughter-in-law, Mariah Sharkey. She was a proud grandmother to Jaylinn Sharkey, Jasmine Sharkey, and Stella Sharkey. Julie is also survived by her brothers, Joe (Carol) Blasen, Rick (Judy) Blasen, Greg (Jamie) Blasen, Jay (Julie) Blasen, and Chris ( Kristin) Blasen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Joan Blasen, her brother, Gary Blasen, as well as her mother-in-law, Mary Sharkey, and father-in-law, George Sharkey Sr.

A visitation and prayer service will be held in Julie’s honor on Friday, October 3, 2025, at St. Anthony Church from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception at the Elk Lodge.

Julie will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the love she poured into her family and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
