Kristine Lee Stoll (Holden) passed away on June 29th, 2025 at the age of 79. She left us the same way she lived her whole life, kicking and screaming one minute and smooching and loving on us the next. She was born in Rawlins, WY October 20th, 1945 to Charles & Ruth Holden. She spent much of her young life with her Grandparents in Lamont, WY which is the place she loved more than any other.
Kriss married Jim Rollins on her 17th birthday. They had three girls together, Britta, Shelly and Jamie. They later divorced and she married Robert Arndt and they had Bobby. Her 3rd marriage was to Michael Doyle, which resulted in our beloved Mikey. The true love of her life came in her 50's when she met and later married Ed Stoll. She and Ed loved to fly fish, ride their horses, dance and camp at Esterbrook. She was so grateful for the 20 years they shared until his passing in 2022.
Our Mom was a truly unique human. She had a huge heart, impulsive nature, red hot temper and a can do anything attitude. She would do anything for someone she loved. She worked many jobs in her life, newspaper reporter, police officer, tech at Hewlett Packard and retired as a nurse. In her 30's she decided that she wanted something better for herself and put herself through nursing school. We were skeptical at the thought of our no nonsense, suck it up Mom being a care giver. Much to our surprise, she was wonderful, kind, loving, cool-headed and so good with all her patients. Once we knew it was possible, we were hopeful we'd see some of that side at home, but we still needed to suck it up.
Mom's loved spending time with her family. She loved playing pinochle, Mario pills, and pinbot. So many weekends spent in the back yard, bbq's and floating in the above ground pool. Saturday night Bingo and playing pull tabs until the money ran out. Gambling, no matter how many $100 bills you saw her put in a machine, she was Always ahead. If she won, we all did. She loved to read and taught us all to be voracious readers. She played the guitar and taught us so many songs. All of us know every word to the Judds, Carpenters, Peter, Paul & Mary and so many others.
She was her Grandkids sweet MomMom, although we put a lot of effort into it being Monster MomMom, she won and sweet it was. Because she was sweet with them. She taught them to fish, camp, play cards and not to take any BS from anyone. She made sure her whole family knew about her "Lord & Savior-Outlander". Yes, Outlander. It was much more than a show to her and she shared it with everyone.
The last 15 years of her life much changed with a serious car accident that limited her ability to walk. They told her she never would again, which we all knew, meant she sure as heck would and did! It did change her passions to her tv shows and politics. She spent many hours on the phone with her sister Char discussing the world and where it's headed.
We almost lost her in 1995, when we lost our brother Mikey. She went through a very dark time and shut everyone out. Stoll did what we couldn't, pulled her out of the deep dark hole she'd immersed herself in and made her see that she could still have love and a life. The years they were together, were good years for our family. We got to know a kinder, gentler Mom who worked so hard for us to know the love she felt for us. In her last 10 years, she had the means to do things for her family that she was never able too before. She took so much joy in buying us three girls side by sides, shopping trips once a year to buy us new clothes and slipping us some gambling $$.
We will miss our fiery, fowl mouthed, two pack a day Mom more than anyone can know. She lived her last days in Orin Junction Wyoming, it reminded her of Lamont and her childhood and she truly loved it there. When she didn't think she'd get to be there and be independent, she decided to skip treatment and let nature do its thing. She lived life her way and died her way. As much as we miss her, I respect her bravery and determination and I hope someday I'm half the bad ass she was. The world will truly be a less interesting place without her in it.
Kriss is survived by her three daughters, Britta Macdonald (Pete), Shelly Gherlach (Gerry), Jamie Rollins (George), son Bobby Arndt and her grandchildren, Seth, Lucas (April) & Bryland (Angela) , Kitrick (Ashley) & Jarrett (Jenn), Credence & Hanna and Colton. Her sisters Charlene & Linda Holden. She was preceded in death by her son Mikey, husband Ed Stoll, sister Judy, Mom, Dad and Grandparents. In her last days she looked so forward to seeing Mikey and Stoll, holding hands and waiting for her. We will miss you Mom, every day until we see you again. Kiss everyone's face for us!!
The family will be having a private celebration of life for family & friends at a later date. If you would like to attend please reach out to Britta or Jamie.
