Kurt Massaryk Zajic

May 2, 1953 — December 20, 2025

Kurt Masaryk Zajic, 72, of Casper Wyoming, passed away on December 20th, 2025, in Casper.

Kurt was born in Lawrence, Kansas to William and Patricia Zajic on May 2nd, 1953. Due to his father's work, Kurt's family moved often. They came to Casper when Kurt was in his younger teenage years. Kurt attended Dean Morgan junior high and then Natrona County High School for a brief time. He earned his general equivalency degree.

Kurt met his beautiful wife, Sally McNamara, in Casper. They were married on November 4th,1971, at the young ages of 18 and 16. They were married for 51 years at the time of her passing in July 2023. Kurt and Sally had three children, Jenna Christina, Colin and Michele. Kurt and Sally loved each other deeply. During their time on earth together, they shared many moments of joy and love as well as weathered many storms, including the deaths of two of their children, Jenna and Colin.

Kurt worked in pipe coating and inspection for Tuboscope in Casper for many years where he became a foreman. When the Casper plant he was affiliated with closed, he was offered a transfer to Texas. Because Sally's family all resided in Casper, they chose to stay here. Kurt began his career in groundskeeping with Casper College in August of 1992 and was employed with CC for 23 years.

Kurt had many gifts and attributes that God blessed him with, that for the most part, only those closest to him got to see and experience. Kurt thought and felt very deeply. He preferred solitude over company, but those who truly knew him got to witness a softer soul, which he tried hard to keep hidden under an armored exterior. He was a creative and gifted artist. He drew beautiful portraits in pencil and loved working with stained glass. He loved music and would play artists like Jethro Tull, ZZ Top, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin for all within a twenty mile radius to hear! Kurt loved the water, he was a fisherman and an avid swimmer.

Kurt is survived by his daughter, Michele(Andy) Jozwik, grandsons Ethen(Chloe) and Colter, granddaughter Abigael, and great grandson, Micah, all of Casper, Wyoming, his sister, Kim Park of Windsor, Colorado, her sons, Brian and Seth and their families, brother-in-law, William (Mary) McNamara and their children, Mercedes, Bo and Mackenzie Rae, and his good friend, Henry Jackson of Cleveland, Ohio.

Kurt is preceded in death by his wife, Sally Zajic, his daughter, Jenna and his son, Colin, his parents, William and Patricia Zajic, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Elizabeth McNamara, brother-in-law, Tony Park and his best friend and beloved German shepherd, Franklin.
