Linda Louise Lookingbill Bays of Casper, Wyoming, passed away surrounded by her family on September 4, 2023 at the age of 82. Linda was born on November 30, 1940 in Douglas, Wyoming to Daniel Arthur Lookingbill, Jr. and Edna Helen Hisaw.
Linda lived her life in various towns of Wyoming, including Torrington, Lysite, Lost Cabin, Morton, and Midwest, where she would meet her childhood sweetheart, Jerry Bays. When her parents moved to Riverton, Linda stayed behind in Midwest to be with Jerry and graduate high school. After marrying and moving to Laramie and Salt Lake City with Jerry as he finished college, she made her final move and planted roots in Casper.
Linda and Jerry grew their life and family over the next 63 years. Linda worked in all sorts of professions, from bread shops, to banking offices, to photography studios, to running a daycare out of their home. But beyond her jobs, Linda took the greatest joy and pride in her family.
Linda loved all things colorful—flowers in her garden, butterflies big and small, and shoes for every occasion. She loved dancing, especially with Jerry. If there was a reason to celebrate, she was the first one to plan a big party. She was a sucker for a good deal, whether it was haggling at garage sales or jumping on the Bluelight Specials. Oh, and how she loved taking pictures— their home quickly ran out of space for all the many boxes of photos she kept and organized.
She loved animals, remodeling furniture, collecting artifacts in the Red Desert as a young girl, and working in her flower beds. She loved love stories on TV—and if it starred Robert Redford, all the better. She loved packing the whole family in the camper for hunting weekends.
Simply put, Linda loved. More importantly, Linda was, is, and always will be loved. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and 4 siblings (Betty, Bud, Joe, and Bill).
Linda is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jerry; her 4 children, Jodi (Tony), Julie (Russ), Jerel (Jennifer), and Jerrod (Jessica); her 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Bustard & Jacoby Funeral Home on Saturday, September 30 at 2:00pm, with visitation opening at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions (https://cwhp.planmylegacy.org/cash).
