Linda Louise (Brown) Gillum, age 56, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on September 14, 2025 in Casper, Wyoming.
Linda was born in Billings, Montana to William E. Brown and Mary C. Vermillion on August 29, 1969. After her father’s passing, the family moved to Riverton, Wyoming where she and her siblings attended school. Linda graduated from Riverton High School in 1987. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming and a Master’s degree from Grand Canyon University.
Linda followed her calling to impact the youth of Wyoming by teaching for 31 years. She spent 3 years in Midwest teaching 2nd grade, followed by 28 years at Oregon Trail Elementary School, focusing on the primary grades. Throughout her career students and other professionals appreciated her kindness and patience. Linda was usually smiling and happy whenever anyone saw her at the school, whether it was during the school day or on the many nights and weekends that she spent grading and decorating her room. Mrs. Gillum (as her students called her) worked hard to provide the best educational environment and safe place for every one of her students. She was an amazing teacher who spread so much good in this community.
When she wasn’t at work, Linda’s passion was her family. Her passion was being a mom. She strived to be a good sister, daughter and friend. She spent more time on the telephone than Ma Bell, in her quest to check in on everyone and make sure they were all well. She would remember the names of the significant people in each family members work and social networks as family members would update her about their lives. Other hobbies that she eagerly pursued included going on walks, visiting the lake or beaches, playing Yahtzee, and reading about and watching true crime stories.
Linda is survived by her husband Shawn, daughter Madison VanAntwerp (Jeff), sons Colten Gillum (Mardi) and Duncan Gillum, parents Clyde and Charlene Stone, brother Bob Brown (Tammy), sisters Heidi Olson and Marci Campbell (Jason), in-laws Skip and Sandi Gillum, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Cody and Shem Bringham, nieces Ashton Killinger (Trevor), Bree Olson (Shane) and Courtney Olson (Cade), nephews Austin Brown (Faith), Reed Campbell, Cade Campbell, Devon Bringham and Dylan Bringham. She was preceded in death by her father, William Brown and her grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Highland Park Community Church in Casper, Wyoming on Monday, September 22nd at 11am with a reception to follow.
You are more than welcome to make this a great day for flower shops in her memory or if you are interested in donating to a passion project for her, Linda and our family benefitted from The Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care’s Angels Program (contact Sam Carrick at 307-233-4783) and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Denver (contact Carol Griffin at 720-382-7210).
We would be remiss if we did not express our unending appreciation to the medical professionals who dedicated so much time and energy in the quest to cure and/or extend Linda’s life through her battles. We would not have had so much quality time with her without the efforts of so many at Rocky Mountain Oncology, Banner Wyoming Medical Center, Swedish Medical Center, Surg One Surgical Care, Sarah Cannon Research Center, Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital, and others I may have unintentionally omitted.
