Casper

Lois Ann Wright (Paulsen), 76, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on December 18, 2023 at Banner Hospital in Casper, Wyoming surrounded by her family and best friend.

Lois was born on May 19, 1947 in Merced, California to Lawrence Peter Paulsen and Erma Irene Paulsen (Russell). She attended Hayward High School and graduated the class of 1965. She immediately entered the workforce as a secretary, but her natural acumen and work ethic earned her a quick promotion to business manager. A robust career that included the Teamsters Union in Casper, Wyoming and Denver, Colorado and Wyoming Medical Center from where she retired in 2012. In 1987 she was elected Mayor of Evansville, WY and served until 1990. She also served several years as a volunteer EMT for the Evansville Volunteer Fire Department. She married Everett Earl Wright in 1994 and found her greatest joy spending time with her husband at their Lakehouse at Alcova Reservoir riding their jet skis up Fremont Canyon or cruising the shoreline in their boat. Later in life, her adventures continued aboard cruise ships visiting many Ports of Call across the Caribbean on yearly excursions with her retired girlfriends. In 2016 she joined the Wyoming Laureate Lambda chapter of Beta Sigma Phi which she was active in until her passing.  Lois was a proud member for 8 years. She served as President, was Woman of the Year, Mother of the Year, and beloved sister to many.

Lois is survived by her daughter Alexia Ann Dawn Lucero and wife Robin Lee of Baypoint, California as well as her daughter Kimberly Ann Weikum and husband Brandon Eserman of Casper, Wyoming. She is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Erma of Walnut Creek, CA, husband Everett Earl Wright of Casper, her son Army Captain Robert Lawrence Lucero (via Operation Iraqi Freedom), of Casper, and twin sons lost in infancy.

Cremation services by Bustard and Jacoby and a celebration of life service will be held in spring of 2024. Details to be posted in due course.

In honor of Lois’s lifelong devotion to adopting shelter animals, memorial donations may be made to the Casper Humane Society. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Lois’s best friend Sheila Pesek and all the women of the Wyoming Laureate Lambda chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
