In February of 1974 they adopted their first child, Aubrey, and Kay became a stay at home mom. In 1979 they adopted their second child, Stephanie.

Before there was Coats for Kids and other agencies, Kay would go to KMart and pick up coats, boots, gloves and hats for the children most in need. Kay loved collecting antiques, riding snowmachines and 4 wheelers, was very artistic, an avid horseman, gardener, hunter (shooting her first moose in 1973). She took several cruises, had fun adventures with friend Nikki, fished in the Northwest Territory and went to Hawaii. She and Huey restored a 1923 Shulte Sheep wagon. She was very proud to be part of the Garden Walk winning first place and welcomed everyone to stop by and enjoy. Kay enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Casper Mountain.
