Marjorie M. "Marge" (Chaffin) Peterson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away to be with the Lord on August 30, 2010 at the Shepherd of the Valley Care Center. Marge was born April 30, 1923 in Midwest, Wyoming, the first of five children to Walter and Pauline Chaffin. She moved to Casper in 1941 where she met and married the love of her life, Bill Peterson. Bill and Marge have been married for 64 years, and had three children, Penny Eutsler of Gillette, William A. (Lari) Peterson, Jr. of Grants Pass, Oregon and Susan (John) Weiss of Vacaville, California. Marge was an active member of the Casper community. She was a frequent volunteer in the local schools; served on the PTA, donated time as room mother for her children's classes, chaperoned field trips, chauffeured her own and other children to sport events and supported the local Little League and Babe Ruth organizations. She served as a docent at Fort Casper, and volunteered time for Health Fairs. She was also a member of the Hoedowner's Square Dance Club, Pinochle Club, Homemaker's Club, and TOPS. She loved knitting, painting and doing crafts of all kinds. Most of all she loved being with her family, camping, boating, baking, cooking and making sure that her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren knew they were loved and treasured. Marge is survived by her husband, William A. "Bill" of Casper, her three children, and a sister Faye (Jack) Box of Casper. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Walter Chaffin, and three siblings, Helen (Dave) McClew, Everett "Cedar" Chaffin and Gerald (Barbara) Chaffin. A celebration of Marge's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Highland Park Community Church. The family invites you to join them following the service to visit with family and friends in the Hospitality Room at the church.
