Martin "Mac" James Goss

November 3, 1955 — December 22, 2025

Martin James Goss was born on the 3rd of November 1955 in Casper, Wyoming to Audrey McQuilkin Goss and Glenn Ira Goss. He was followed by his sister Carol, and his brother John.

He spent the first 17 years of his life roaming the plains of Wyoming with his family looking for rocks (and horny toads) and spending a good amount of time in the various bowling allies in Casper while his parents competed. He would keep up these activities throughout his life as an avid rockhound and bowler.

He was an alumnus of McKinley Elementary, Dean Morgan Jr. High and Natrona County High School. He studied German at NC and it would come in handy during his military career.

Martin joined the US Army just out of High School and spent 18 years serving his country in many locations including the US and Germany. He was proud to be an infantryman and paratrooper. He was an accomplished TOW missileer. He served in the 4th, 8th, and 101st Infantry and 3rd Armored Divisions.

When he left the military, he returned to the mountain west, living in Colorado and eventually returning to Wyoming. He was a good help to his Mom and enjoyed time with family. He had many different jobs after the military including being a chrome plater for Panzer Motorcycles in Colorado and a window installer for Action Glass in Casper.

Martin was a past President of the Natrona County Rockhound Club, a member of the Wyoming Jade Group and a founding member of the Jeffrey City Jade Fest where he shared his vast knowledge of where to find all the goodies and was always up for a road trip to share the joy of the hunt with others. He made awesome things out of jade and taught his youngest daughter,Heaven, how to make jade jewelry.

He will be remembered as a storyteller, a giving friend and neighbor, and a patriot.

Those who were fortunate to spend time with him learned much and never failed to leave without a stone in their pocket.

Martin passed on the 22nd of December, 2025 in Casper. He is survived by his sisters Carol Archer of Utah, Ellie (Stu) Phillips and Glenda Grimsley of Ohio and his brother John (Lisa) Goss of Florida. He is also survived by his six children: Martin Goss ll of Minnesota, Sonya Goss of Casper, Travis Goss of Oklahoma, James (Megan) Goss of Riverton, Savannah (John) To of Pennsylvania and Heaven Goss of Casper.

Following his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. A memorial Jade hunt will be forthcoming in August 2026.
