Obituary

Mary Katherine Feezer was born April 15, 1939, and passed away March 17, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming. Mary K. was born in Lander, WY, to B.T. and Marie McManus. She attended grade school in Lander, Wyoming and high school at the Academy of Saint Mary of the Wasatch in Salt Lake City, Utah, graduating in 1957. At Casper College, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the Rodeo Club, and the Pep Band, and was selected as a Rodeo Queen Attendant for the 1957 Lander Pioneer Days Rodeo.

In 1958, Mary K. married Gerald L. Feezer, and together they raised six children: David Feezer of DeLand, Florida; Geralynn Christensen of Green River, Wyoming; Randy Feezer of Alpharetta, Georgia; Ann Cordell of Casper, Wyoming; Rusty Feezer of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and Judy Feezer of San Diego, California.

Mary K. was a gifted painter whose work captured the landscapes and spirit of Wyoming. She served as president of the Casper Artists Guild in the mid-1970’s, and her art found homes in some of the state’s most recognizable venues. Her painting of scenes from the John Wayne film The Hellfighters was displayed at the Parkway Inn in Casper, Wyoming, her painting of the Casper Troopers was placed in the collection at the Fort Caspar Museum, and her train painting was selected as the cover of the 1976 Wyoming State Fair Book.

In 1979, the family moved to Moran, Wyoming, when Gerald was hired as the north district carpenter for Grand Teton National Park. Mary K. deepened her love of Wyoming history there, freelancing articles for the Casper Star-Tribune in the early 1990s. History ran in her blood; her grandfather, Will Sherlock, was born at the Sherlock Smith Hotel in South Pass City, now a state historic monument. While in Moran, Wyoming she was employed by conservationist Dr. Margaret Murie and had the rare honor of accompanying Dr. Murie to Wasington, D.C., in 1978 when she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

When Gerald retired in 1998, the two traveled the country by RV and attended NASCAR races together. They spent winters in St. George, Utah where Mary K. was a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and summers back home in Casper, Wyoming.

Mary K. is now reunited with her beloved husband, Gerald Lee Feezer, who preceded her in death on December 6, 2024. Along with her son Randy Feezer who preceded her in death on April 14, 2025. She lived a life painted in bold, vivid strokes as a mother, an artist, a historian, and a true daughter of Wyoming. Her legacy endures in the children she raised, the stories she told, and the painting she left behind.

Cremation has taken place, and a catholic mass will be held at a later date.

The family would like to share their gratitude to Mountain Plaza Assisted Living and Memory Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations in Mary’s name be made to Enhabit Home Health and Hospice, who shared their journey with them until the end. They are such amazing and caring people.
