Mildred N. Oberg A celebration of Mildred Oberg's life will be held at 10:30 am Monday August 9, 2010 at Boyd Avenue Baptist Church. "Midge" died Saturday July 31, 2010 at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home where she had been a resident for 2 ½ yrs. She was born in Alliance, Nebraska on April 15, 1920, the daughter of William E. and Ethel Nicholas. She moved to Casper in 1923. She was raised in a large family with four sisters and one brother. She attended Casper schools and graduated from NCHS in 1938. She met her future husband Harry while working at Provident Federal Savings and Loan. They were married on June 14, 1942 and had sixty-five years together until Harry's death in 2007. Midge worked at the old Casper National Bank and later at the Wyoming National Bank. She served as a "pink lady" at Wyoming Medical Center working in the Gift Shop. She and Harry moved to Beaumont Texas in 1966 when Harry was transferred there by Mobil Oil. After his retirement they moved back to Casper to be closer to their family. Midge was a "people person" and loved to entertain her many friends and family. She loved the Lord and was a long time member of Boyd Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters Carolyn Halvorsen of Orlando, Florida, and Nancy Chadderdon and her husband Steve of Casper, four grandchildren, Sarah and Damon Halvorsen, and Bryan and Scott Chadderdon and five great-grandchildren, and her brother Stephen Nicholas of Casper. She was preceded in death by her parents, her four sisters, and her husband. She will be interred with her husband at Oregon Trail Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home or Boyd Avenue Baptist Church
