Mildred was married to her high school sweetheart, Jerry Sunderland, for an admirable 65 years, until his passing in 2017. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She has left behind a legacy of kindness and warmth that will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew her.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Susan Evon, and her son, Scott Sunderland. Mildred took immense pride in her grandchildren: Jennifer Houghon (Mike), Kristi Gay (Dave), Jason Sunderland (Sarah), Nikki Sunderland, and John Toz. Additionally, she cherished her role as a great grandmother to nine great-grandchildren, who were a source of great joy and fulfillment in her later years. In addition to her immediate family, Mildred is survived by her brother, Thomas Mathews (Nancy).

Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Sunderland, her son, Jay Sunderland, her son, Kurt Sunderland, her parents, Thomas Mathews and Cicely Sims, and her sisters, Dorothy, Lorraine, and Betty.
