Nancy Deeann Bodenhamer, 61, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2026. She was born on November 9, 1964, in Casper to James and Mary Bodenhamer.
Nancy was the youngest of three children. She is survived by her only son, James Anderson; her beloved racehorses Cassidy Brown, Dash, and Sis; her older sister, Cathy Bodenhamer; her older brother, George Bodenhamer; her nephew, Cougar (Jennifer) Boyce; and her great-nephews and niece, Kristopher, Marcus, and Bella Boyce. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A proud graduate of Natrona County High School, Nancy was elected class president in the Class of 1983. She later earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Columbia Southern University while working full time. From a young age, Nancy was deeply involved in rodeo. She won multiple All-Around Cowgirl awards, qualified several times for the National Finals Rodeo, and was crowned Rodeo Queen. She cherished traveling the rodeo circuit and training alongside her father. After high school she transitioned into outriding, where she met her future husband, Mike Anderson, at the racetrack. While building her full-time career, she continued racing competitive racehorses as a passionate hobby and always dreamed of one day owning a stable full of them.
Nancy married Mike Anderson and gave birth to their only son, James, when she was 24. She began her professional career shortly afterward with Barrick Goldstrike, where she spent 29 years in increasingly responsible roles and ultimately oversaw health and safety for one of the company’s largest mining operations. In the final decade of her working life, she transitioned to tax services, most recently with Covert Tax Services after several years with Jackson Hewitt.
Above all, Nancy was a passionate horsewoman who spent her life caring for animals. She built her days around horses and passed away doing what she loved most. Known for her compassion, loyalty, and fierce determination, Nancy worked hard to honor the legacy of her parents while forging her own remarkable path. She touched countless lives through her kindness, her work ethic, and her quiet strength.
