Olive Ohler

b. May 4, 1926

Private services are planned for Olive May Ohler who passed away quietly on May 7, 2013, at the Life Care Center in Casper. She had just turned 87. She was born on May 4, 1926 in Casper, Wyoming, the only child, of Robert and Helen (Lang) Fitzsimmons. She was raised and educated in Casper, where she met the love of her life, Lloyd A. Oler; and they were married on November 13, 1942. Ollie was a good help-meet for her husband as they owned and operated two successful businesses: L.A. Oler Taxidermy, and Casper Motorcycle Sales & Service. While raising two children, Ollie learned how to work with animal hides to help her husband run his taxidermy business during the 1950's and 1960's. Then, when they decided to open a motorcycle dealership, in the mid-1950's, she learned how to sell motorcycle parts and do the bookkeeping, while her husband sold the bikes and did the mechanics. She worked side by side with her husband until they retired in 1980. Ollie was a hard worker and a dedicated wife and mother. However, she also found time to pursue her natural artistic talent, when she began china painting in 1961. In 1968, she served as president of the Wyoming Porcelain Artists' Guild. Her beautifully painted plates and vases earned many blue and purple ribbons at the Central Wyoming Fair. She continued her love of painting throughout her life, and she not only became a master of china painting, but she also taught her skills to students in her china painting classes. Olive had a sweet and kindly personality that endeared her to everyone she met. Her cheerful laugh was captivating and she had no trouble making friends. After retiring from the motorcycle business, she and her husband purchased a winter home in Hurricane, Utah, where they traveled yearly, as sun birds, to relax and enjoy the sun. Also, after retirement, she dedicated more time to the Kingdom Hall, where she was a devoted Jehovah's Witness, both in Casper and in Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband of fifty-three years, Lloyd Ohler. Survivors include: her daughter, Nancy (Donald) Ranes of Casper; her son, Timothy Oler of Casper; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
