Ozie Blanton

Ozie E. Blanton Casper, Wyoming June 20, 1924 - June 28, 2018 Ozie E. Blanton, age 94, passed away on June 28, 2018 at Meadow Winds Assisted Living. Ozie was born to H.C. and Mary Blanton in Harlan, KY. Ozie grew up in KY, he completed the 8th grade and then joined the Army 10th Air Force in 1940 at the age of 16 and served proudly as an airplane engine mechanic. Ozie was in WWII, served in China, Burma and India. He completed his service in 1945. Ozie was very proud of his military service to his country. Ozie then moved to Wyoming in 1945, he met the love of his life, Lillian M. Dorn in Billings, MT. They were married at her parents' home in 1948, then moved to Casper in 1956 where together they raised their two daughters, Mary and Wanda. Ozie worked in the oil fields taking him too many states in the US and Iran. He then started his own oil field service, Blanton Diesel Engine and Rig Service. He was owner operator until he retired in 1986. Ozie and Lillian took many trips in their motorhome making very lasting memories for their children and grandchildren. Ozie enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and boating at Alcova and Pathfinder. He caught lots of fish. Ozie loved to tell great stories. Mostly Ozie loved his family, especially those grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ozie was a Charter member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church. Ozie leaves many who loved him dearly; daughter, Wanda (Ron) Johnson, of Alcova, Wyoming; son-in-law, Scott (Stephanie) Bennion; grandson, Travis (Kimi) Johnson, (Corbin and Farren); granddaughter, Tina (Eric) Holbrook, (Danika and Khloe) all of Casper, Wyoming; grandson's Scott (Jennifer) Bennion (Mackinzie and Brooklynn) of Toledo, OH; Beau (Chrissy) Bennion (Chase and Lily) of Parker, CO; Brandon (Amy) Bennion, (Luke and Zoey) of Casper, WY; sister-in-laws, JoAnn Adams of Yakima, WA and Jan Blanton of Buffalo, WY; nephew, Ray (Storm) Simpson of AZ; a loving cousin, Tevis Fitzpatrick of FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ozie was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian in 2017, his parents of KY, daughter, Mary Bennion, sister, Eula Simpson and brother, Arnold Blanton. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Bustard's Funeral Home in Casper. Services will be at Mt. Hope Lutheran Church, 2300 South Hickory Street in Casper on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Dr. Christian Preus officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Garden's Cemetery in Casper. Military honors will be accorded by the United States Army National Guard and the Natrona County United Veterans Council. At Ozie's request no flowers please. Memorial donations may be made to Mt.
