Paul Jozwik

Paul Jozwik, a beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025 after a life well-lived. Paul was born on October 29, 1935 in El Paso, Texas and moved as a teen to Casper where he would spend the majority of his life.

Paul proudly served four years in the United States Navy’s Submarine Force as an electrician, stationed at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Connecticut. During his service, he participated in operations aboard the USS Crevalle, traveling along the East Coast and throughout the Caribbean. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Janet Sanger, on a blind date. Janet later fondly recalled Paul as the “most handsome man” she had ever seen. Their whirlwind courtship culminated in their marriage on December 26, 1959 at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After completing his naval service, Paul returned to Casper with Janet, where they built a life together. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad while he and his brother Francis developed the Johnny Appleseed gardening center into a thriving local business. In 1975, Paul left the railroad to dedicate himself full-time to Johnny Appleseed, nurturing the business with the same care and dedication he showed his family.

A big bear of a man with keen intelligence and a sharp sense of humor, Paul was a devoted family man whose love for Janet never wavered. Together, they raised ten children, beginning with their firstborn in 1961. Paul’s passions extended beyond work and family; he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and feeding the wild birds of Casper. He was also known for his signature, special occasion floral arrangements. His love of nature was further evident in the more than 600 trees he planted on his property outside Casper, creating a peaceful, arboreal sanctuary for his family and local wildlife.

Paul is preceded in death by Janet, his beloved wife of 54 years; his parents Andrew and Dagmar (née Wettermark); his brother Joseph; his sister Dagmar; and his sons Paul and Michael. He is survived by his brother Francis; his children Dwayne, Catherine (William), Darryl, Valerie (Darin) Hill, Christine (Richard) Harris, Charles (Cynthia), Heather (Brian) Jones, Jennifer, Andrew (Michele), and Raymond (Beth); 27 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Paul leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication to God and family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
