Peggy Diane (Thompson) Schmidt went home to be with the Lord on January 4, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Peggy was born on September 4, 1952, in Powell, Wyoming, to Robert and Lois Thompson. She graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1970 and later attended Eugene Bible College.
In 1972, Peggy married Larry Schmidt, and together they raised three daughters: Trina, Jenny, and Alisha. They later divorced.
Throughout her life, Peggy lovingly cared for many children in the Casper area. She worked at Noah’s Ark, Stepping Stones, and Next Generation Learning Center, and she taught Sunday school at Faith Bible Chapel for more than 20 years. Later, she worked in retail, where she especially enjoyed caring for her regular customers at Hobby Lobby, Big Lots, and Walmart.
Peggy had a deep love for stained glass and delighted in gifting her creations to those she loved. She was proud to win first prize for her stained glass lamp at the Wyoming State Fair, and several of her pieces were featured at the Denver Botanic Gardens. Peggy also loved to sing. In college, she was part of a traveling competitive choir, and she continued singing for many years at Faith Bible Chapel.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Trina (Keith) Beaton, Jenny (Ryan) Schmidt, and Alisha (Dean) Coleman; her brothers, Cheyenne (Bonnie) Thompson and Eric (Patty) Thompson, both of Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Jordan (Taylor), Damian (Chantel), Reese (Beka), Katlyn, Kodi, April (Talon), and Zachary (Emma); along with 13 great-grandchildren, who were the joys of her heart. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, her brother Cole, and her niece April.
Cremation has taken place, and in accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
Peggy spent the final years of her life at Casper Mountain Rehabilitation Center, where she made many wonderful friends and enjoyed participating in arts and crafts activities. The family would like to thank the entire staff for their friendship, kindness, and tender loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Activities Department at Casper Mountain Rehabilitation Center, 4305 S. Poplar Street, Casper, WY 82601.
