Rick Alan Knigge, 65, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away on September 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born to Sandy and Melvin Knigge on July 11, 1960, in Casper, and built a life routed in hard work, family, and integrity.
A successful businessman, Rick had his hands in many ventures but was most proud of his longtime career as the Vice President of Melco Inc. Known not only for his dedication and drive, Rick was endlessly generous, always willing to help those in need without expecting anything in return. Friends, family, and colleagues alike remember him as someone whose support and guidance came naturally, quietly, and consistently.
Rick shared 36 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Stephanie. He was the proud father of six children, John, Jason, Josh, Erica, Zach, and Kali, and the beloved grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 1. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and each brought him immense joy. He loved spending time with them, sharing laughter, guidance, and the occasional tough love exactly when it was needed.
Two of Rick’s greatest passions were fishing and cars. Whether he was casting a line on a quiet lake or enjoying the thrill of the catch with friends and family, fishing was his happy place, a time to relax, reflect, and share stories. Rick was also an unapologetic collector of cars, amassing a small fleet of classics, vintage vehicles, and occasional fixer uppers. His garage was less of a building and more of a museum of dreams, each car reflecting his love for craftsmanship, history, and the thrill of the ride.
Despite his impressive accomplishments and hobbies, Rick was most defined by his heart. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal friend, and a man whose generosity and selflessness left a lasting mark on everyone he met. And while he may have owned more cars than some towns have streets, he never once asked for anything in return when helping someone, except maybe a laugh or a fishing story to brighten the day.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Melvin; his brothers Melvin Lee and Nick, and his sons John and Zach. Rick is survived by his mother, Sandy; his sisters Shawna and Shadra (Thad); his wife, Stephanie; his children Jason, Josh (Missa), Erica (Ryan), Kali (Vinny), Matt, his 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Ricks legacy of kindness, humor, and passion will live on in all who knew him.
A service will be held to celebrate Rick’s life on October 11th, 2025 at 4 pm at the Hangar. In honor of Rick’s love for cars, the family invites friends and loved ones to drive their hot rods to the service. The family also welcome flowers to be sent to the service at the Hangar.
