Robert William Homer

January 2, 1942 — October 10, 2023

Casper, Wyoming

Robert “Bob” William Homer, 81, of Casper, passed away on October 10, 2023, in the Seminoe Mountains, doing what he loved- enjoying the great outdoors! Bob lived a remarkable life that left an indelible mark on those who knew him.

Bob was born on January 2, 1942, to William A. and Edith L. (Healey) Homer in American Fork, Utah.

Bob attended Southern Utah State College where he played football and received his degree in accounting.

In 1966, Bob married Sherri (Hansen) Homer and together they raised four children. Bob instilled in his children the importance of hard work and determination, qualities he continually displayed throughout his lifetime.

Bob moved to Casper in 1970 to initially work as an accountant, before adventuring into the petroleum industry. From 1975-1978, Bob owned and operated Rancho Road Texaco, which he later sold. In 1978, Bob co-founded Homax Oil with his brother Jim Homer and Max Julian, a successful company that continues today. Upon his retirement from the petroleum industry in 2003, Bob discovered a new passion as a dry wheat farmer, which was a further testament to his work ethic and love of nature. Bob took immense pride in being the “largest wheat farmer in Natrona County”. During his retirement, Bob also enjoyed the companionship and friendships while snow birding in South Padre Island, Texas. Bob cherished these relationships and loved sharing those memories with his family and friends back home.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time in nature with family and friends. His love for hunting, fishing, and riding his side-by-side were integral parts of his life. These hobbies brought him great joy and allowed him to appreciate not only the beauty of the great outdoors, but most importantly the time spent, and memories made with so many special friends and family.

Family was important to Bob, and he cherished the time he spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his four children: Darin (Darla) Homer, Melissa (Ryan) Neff, Jenifer (Sean) Lijewski, and Kevin (Latisha) Homer. Additionally, he leaves behind ten grandchildren: Jessica Homer, Jaycob (Olivia) Homer, Brandon (Katy) Neff, Bailey Neff, Brooke, Morgan and Jace Lijewski, Kamdon, Bradi and Scottlyn Homer, and three great- grandchildren: Millie, Lainey and Hudson. Bob loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always cheering them on from the sidelines. He is also survived by his sister Wilma (Homer) Mortensen, of American Fork, UT, as well as several nieces and nephews. Lastly, he is survived by his faithful companion, his dog Piper, whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim Homer and Sherri Hansen Homer.

Bob will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor. He had a tremendous sense of pride regarding his family, his business, and his friendships. Lastly, his family will treasure the amazing time spent together during their Alaskan Cruise with family and friends this past July.
