Robert 'Bob' James Marvin

Robert “Bob” James Marvin passed away on July 28, 2026, at Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions in Casper after a long illness. Born on November 23, 1953, in Rochester, Minnesota, Bob’s life was distinguished by a deep commitment to his profession, his family, and his love of the outdoors.

Bob’s academic journey reflected both rigor and curiosity. He earned a Bachelor of Chemistry and Biology from CSU in 1983, later completing a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Wyoming in 1989. His family and friends recall him as an exceptionally intelligent man who brought energy and determination to each pursuit.

Bob embarked on a long and rewarding career in pharmacy. He worked at Smith’s Food & Drug in Las Vegas, where he was known for his friendly rapport—often helping the showgirls with good cheer. Upon moving to Casper, he dedicated 15 years to Smith’s on CY, earning a reputation for reliability and genuine care for his customers. For the last fifteen years of his working life, Bob served as a relief pharmacist for Kroger, Pamida, and ShopCo, traveling all over the state of Wyoming. Throughout his career, Bob's professionalism and integrity were unwavering; colleagues could always rely on his word.

A lifelong lover of the outdoors, Bob found great joy in bow hunting in the Bighorns and goose hunting along the Platte River with his favorite hunting dog, Katie. Fishing and hunting were much more than hobbies to Bob—they were passions he was eager to share, especially with his nephews and nieces. Those closest to him have fond memories of his willingness to teach the next generation about the wonders of nature. Sky Mountain Lake held a special place in Bob’s heart; his time there reflected the peace and happiness he drew from the wilderness.

Bob’s character was marked by honesty, loyalty, and a dry sense of humor that often lingered with those who encountered it—sometimes leaving people smiling days after the fact. He valued his roots in the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and becoming a member of the Order of the Arrow with Troop 97 in Ft. Collins, Colorado. At the University of Wyoming, he was recognized by the Rho Chi Honor Society for Pharmacy—testament to his dedication and excellence in the field.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Karin East-Marvin; brothers Dave Marvin (wife Lindy) and Jim Marvin (wife Pat); his nephews, Dan and Ben Marvin; and his nieces, Andrea Marvin and Elly Gumeson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Audrey Marvin, as well as his father- and mother-in-law, Jim and Louise East.

Bob’s legacy will be remembered for the steadfastness of his word, his professional contributions, and above all, the countless memories he created with loved ones in the beauty of wild places. His honesty, quiet humor, and generosity of spirit remain enduring gifts to those who knew him.
