Robert Earnest Oldham

Robert (Rob) Ernest Oldham, 72, of Casper Wyoming, passed away on September 10, 2026 in Casper, Wyoming.

Rob was born in Red Bank, New Jersey on June 17, 1954, to Ernest and Virginia (Wallington) Oldham. Growing up near the bay, he formed friendships with people from all walks of life. He graduated from Middletown High School North in 1971. Raised just outside of New York City, Rob loved seeing the Yankees play and he remained a lifelong fan following the team closely each season.

Rob began his working life in blue-collar trades, working as a painter and in plumbing. After a workplace accident, his wife Anne (Daniel) encouraged him to pursue higher education where he excelled in academia. Rob earned his degree in Political Science from Radford University. Rob had a public defender heart, and applied to law school with the intention to become a public defender. Accepted by a number of prestigious law schools, Rob graduated from William and Mary Law School in 1997.

In 2000, Rob and Anne made Casper, Wyoming their home. Rob served as a public defender and became the field office supervisor. A steadfast champion for “the little guy”, Rob regularly volunteered to work on the most challenging cases around the State of Wyoming, taking many to trial. Beyond his courtroom advocacy, Rob mentored and trained countless attorneys throughout the State of Wyoming. It was also not uncommon to see private defense attorneys slip into his office seeking guidance. Above all, Rob truly cared for his clients, often delighting in bumping into former clients across the state while catching up on their lives. If you were lucky enough to meet Rob, you will always remember his kind heart and the lasting impression he would leave.

Rob is survived by his wife Anne Oldham (Daniel) of Casper, Wyoming; sons Robert Daugherty and Daniel Butler; grandchildren Jalen Butler, Tayshaun Butler, Ceceila Butler, Sabrina Butler, Chasity Daugherty, Aaron Christopher England; nephews Robert Townsend, and Joel Townsend. Rob is preceded in death by his sister, Carol Rose Oldham, of Wellington, Colorado.

A casual memorial gathering will be held at the Casper Clubhouse at 1032 E. L Street, in Casper, Wyoming on the evening of Friday, November 13, 2026 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Please join us in visiting and sharing memories of Rob.
