Rudy Temple

January 3, 1935 — April 9, 2026

Rudy Temple, 91, passed away April 9, 2026 at 4:26 pm after a brief illness. His goal in life was to live to be 100. He loved being on the water and driving the back roads wherever to see the countryside and farm country.

Rudy was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on January 3, 1935. He later moved to Yoder, WY to live with his grandparents, Fritz and Katherine Temple. He attended Yoder High School and then joined the Navy July, 1952. Stationed in Guam aboard a destroyer, he advanced to Boilerman 3. Honorably discharged in July 1960, he returned to Wyoming to help his grandfather on the farm.

Rudy started working at Glenrock Coal/ Pacific Corp as a train conductor, working hard for 36 years, retiring in 1996 as a Mine Shift Supervisor. Retirement was not for him as he was bored... He then went to work for Haliburton and later for Powder River Bus lines.

He loved driving, and he would jump in the car and drive to Denver for the day just for the fun of it. We used to take off for a Sunday drive across dirt roads, cattle guards and gates in the middle of nowhere, but we always found our way home.

Rudy is survived by his stepdaughter, Connie Relka. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, his wife, Miriam Melcher Temple, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and coffee clutch buddies.

Funeral services will be held at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, April 22, 2026 at 2 pm. Burial will follow after the service.
