Ruth Elizabeth Day, 82, fell asleep in death on May 23, 2026 in Casper, Wyoming. Ruth was born in Hayward, Wisconsin on January 31, 1944 to Sam Wood and Violet Viola (Cross) Wood.

On July 11, 1959, Ruth married Richard Day, they were married for 60 years. Richard and Ruth had one child together, Randy.

Ruth worked as a maid at the Townsend Hotel, the dry cleaning industry and as meat cutter and wrapper at Weinrichs, Safeway and Pat’s Meats. This led to many wonderful friendships and memories over the years. She worked many hunting seasons, owning her own processing business and it was an especially fond time of year.

Ruth took great pride in her home, keeping it clean and tidy at all times. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. They brought such joy to her eyes.

Later in her life she began to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and it brought her joy to sing and attend meetings with Randy & Christi. She developed many friendships through her study of the Bible. She was even able to attend her first memorial in person in March of this Year.

Ruth is survived by her sons Randy Day (Christina) and Ricky Day (Sarah) and daughter Lora Sucher (Lee), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Surviving siblings are Carol Mead, Willard “JR” Mead (Elizabeth), Dwight Mead, Raymond (Linda) Mead, Sandy Mitchell, Harold Wood, Arnold Wood, and Virginia Gochenour.

Ruth was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Richard Day, sisters: Norma Jean Wood, Violet Mae Howard, Jean Grantham and Doris Mead Spease; brothers: John Mead, Loyd Mead, Chuck Wood, Jerry Wood, and Louise Anderson.

A memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions program.
