Sandra Elizabeth Adams took her last breath here on earth, and her first breath in heaven on a perfect Sunday morning, August 10, 2025, just the way she would have had it.
God loaned Sandra to this world on October 11, 1942, when she was the fourth child born to Galton and Hazel Tarrant in Abilene, TX. Sandra was raised in a very modest home where she reminisced about all five of the kids having to sleep the short way on one bed while they grew up. As a teenager, Sandra had a near death experience where she nearly drowned swimming in the ocean. This moment forever changed her as she begged God to spare her in exchange for a promise to serve him all the days of her life, and she faithfully executed that promise. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and attended a church all by herself every Sunday.
While Sandra was in high school, she worked as a roller skating car hop (the young folks may have to “Google” this!) at Casey’s Little Red Barn. Two significant events happened while working here: first, she severely broke her ankle, an injury she never fully recovered from, and second, she met Grant Adams, her soul mate. After a brief courtship, Sandra and Grant married on November 4, 1961 and spent 43 years together until the Lord called Grant home in 2005.
Shortly after being married, Grant gave up his Sunday race car habit to begin attending church with his bride and it was in God’s house Grant felt the call of the Lord upon his life. For the next 41 years he and Sandra changed the course of countless lives for eternity, as he Pastored and she faithfully served everywhere and anywhere it was needed in churches in Glenrock, Kaycee, and Casper, Wyoming not to mention the many other churches across Wyoming, South Dakota, and Idaho they came alongside to help.
In addition to building a church family, Sandra and Grant built their own precious family having first a daughter, Brenda, followed by a son, Steven. Timothy rounded out this family of 5 when he was a very welcomed surprise being born 5 years later. Sandra invested herself whole heartedly into caring for her family. Any thoughts about her own well being never entered her mind as she lived only to serve others.
The people who had the awesome privilege of knowing Sandra, knew they were in the presence of a person who loved the Lord completely. It was not uncommon for her family to pop in at any given hour of the day, and find Sandra sitting at her desk reading the Bible, praying, or writing a card as she had such a knack for remembering the small things that were important to others. Sandra never wanted to be an imposition to anyone and many that surrounded her in her last days would testify to the fact that even her last few words were to thank others for taking care of her. She was endlessly grateful for any slight act of kindness shown to her.
Sandra was “Granny” to 6 blessed grandchildren. They loved their Granny so much and would often try and trick her into saying they were her favorite so they could rub it into the others. When Grant passed, these babies were what sustained her through the difficulty of navigating life without her “person”. In the last few years she was doubly blessed by the addition of 3 great grandchildren.
To Sandra’s many friends, she would want you to know how much she appreciated you and she would want you to continue earnestly serving the Lord. To the amazing staff at Garden Square, the family owes you a debt of gratitude for loving Sandra so well. You became her bonus family these past 5 years. To Hospice, thank you for all you have done to tenderly care for her as she became so frail. To her church family at Grace Bible Baptist Church, thank you for holding the line for her all these years. It was devastating to her when she could no longer attend and be where her heart truly was.
Sandra is survived by the following: children, Brenda (Max), Steve (Carla), Tim (Leslie), grandchildren, Kelsi (BJ), Ricky (Katelyn), Ethan, Landree, Micah, Elijah, great grandchildren, Chelsie, Rielyn, and Coy, brother Wayne (Paula), sister Verna, sister in law Susie, sister in law Judy (Eddie), brother in law Bill (Ramona), and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The greatest gift you could give, in memory of Sandra, would be to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior today. The family would appreciate any memorial contributions to be given to the “Missions Account” at Grace Bible Baptist church to further the Gospel.
Pastor Steve Adams will officiate Sandra’s homegoing at Grace Bible Baptist Church, 405 S. Park St. Casper, WY, Friday, August 15, 2025 at 10:00 am.
