Suzanne Maureen Stewart

March 30, 1934 — December 8, 2025

Born: March 30,1934

Died: December 8, 2025 - after 91 Beautiful Years

Suzy was born in Rapid City, South Dakota to Mabel and Maurice Lodge. She lived most of her childhood in Sheridan, Wyoming where her parents were teachers. The oldest of three sisters, she grew up in a home full of love. She carried love, compassion and warmth with her throughout her life. She was loved as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother (up to great-great-grandma), nurse, friend and much more.

In 1954, while attending nursing school at Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, Colorado, Suzy met Charles (Chuck) Stewart. Chuck was attending the Colorado School of Mines. They married on October 30,1955 and spent 66 years together. Suzy had to give up her education as a nurse because in those days a nursing student had to be a single woman. As a mother of five children, she eventually returned to school in1972 and obtained her RN license from Casper College. She worked as an RN at Memorial Hospital in Casper and for Casper Doctors Carnahan, Grinstead, and Vigneri.

Suzy is survived by her five children: Howard (Nancy) Stewart, Martha (Mike) Jacobson, Robert (Cindy) Stewart, Sam (Richard) Stewart, and Jesse (Suky) Stewart; nine grandchildren: Charlene, Joshua (Chelsie), Molly (Matt), Tabitha (Mike), Abby (Ryan), Ian (Mike), Kasey, Sophie, and Torin; 10 great-grandchildren: Destiny (Riley), Ryan, Clara (Trent), Justin, Jackson, Addyson, Eleanor, Tesher, Stella, and Janx; and two great-great-grandchildren: Riplee and Rhett.

Suzy always had a welcoming home. It was the “place to be” for any gathering of family, friends or neighborhood kids. She made the best food you could imagine. Suzy was an avid pet lover - mostly dogs (13 in total) - including her beloved basset hounds and her Opie. She spoiled those dogs!

Suzy was a woman of faith. She loved Jesus and shared that love with those she met. She would often quote Acts 17:28 "In Him we live and move and have our being". Her legacy was love of Jesus and others. She was our angel on earth!

We don't say goodbye in our family, just see you later. Our hope is that each of us can be half the person she was on earth. Thank you, Suzy, for touching our lives and for the legacy of love you have instilled in all of us.

A Family memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wyoming Rescue Mission, 230 North Park St, Casper, WY 82601 and at https://www.wyomission.org/
